Muttaqi meets Bangladeshi parliament speaker in Tehran to discuss trade ties

KABUL (Ariana News): Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi met with Bangladesh Parliament Speaker Hafizuddin Ahmed in Tehran, where the two sides discussed strengthening bilateral relations, with a particular focus on expanding trade.
According to Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting centered on ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries and promote bilateral trade.
Muttaqi described the trade potential between Afghanistan and Bangladesh as significant, stressing that both countries should capitalize on existing opportunities to support their economic growth.
For his part, Ahmed said Afghanistan and Bangladesh share longstanding relations and noted that expanding trade would create valuable opportunities for both countries, particularly in supporting Afghanistan’s economic reconstruction.
Muttaqi is part of an Afghan delegation visiting Tehran to attend the funeral for Iran’s late Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.

US: contacts with Taliban limited to select security issues

KABUL (TOLONews): The U.S. State Department’s Coordinator for Counterterrorism says the United States has engaged with the Islamic Emirate only in specific cases and on a selective basis.
Speaking at a press briefing, Gregory D. LoGerfo said these engagements have taken place within the framework of U.S. national interests and have primarily focused on highly sensitive security issues.
He said: “With respect to the Taliban, we have engaged with them selectively, and only when such engagement has been in the interest of the United States and related to highly sensitive and classified security matters.”
Responding to the remarks, Suhail Shaheen, the Islamic Emirate’s ambassador to Doha, stressed that Afghanistan no longer poses a threat to any country and that the Islamic Emirate seeks to expand normal and balanced relations with the international community.

Mujahid: Afghanistan’s borders secure, territory will not be used against other countries

KABUL (Ariana News): Islamic Emirate spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid says Afghanistan’s border security remains under control, stressing that attempts by smugglers and what he described as “criminal elements” to create instability are swiftly neutralized by border forces.
Speaking at the “Government Program Through the Lens of the Media” briefing on Tuesday, Mujahid said the country’s border forces are fully responsible for safeguarding Afghanistan’s territorial integrity and national interests, adding that the security situation along the borders is stable and reliable.
He said smugglers and “criminal elements” occasionally attempt to create security challenges in border areas, but maintained that such incidents are brought under control within minutes by Islamic Emirate forces.
Mujahid also highlighted the performance of the Ministry of Borders, Ethnicities and Tribes, saying it has made significant progress in strengthening national unity and resolving disputes over the past year.
According to him, the ministry settled 432 disputes during the past year and organized 33 major tribal and public gatherings across the country’s provinces aimed at promoting reconciliation and social cohesion.
Reiterating the Islamic Emirate’s foreign policy, Mujahid said the government follows an economy-oriented and connectivity-based approach and seeks positive relations with all countries in the region and beyond.
He also reaffirmed that Afghan territory will not be used against any other country, describing the policy as a key principle of the Islamic Emirate’s engagement with the international community.
