Air India to cut international flights till July amid fuel surge, airspace curbs

Since whole world is going through oil crisis because of gulf war and blockade, Pakistan on humanitarian basis should open it's air space....

India too should open it's airspace for Pakistan airlines who wants to travel to south east Asian countries....

nope, we don't really require it.
We can deal with this, we're not affected :D

India is the last country alongwith Israel that should talk on/about "humanitarian" issues when your Govt is openly supporting the Genocide in Gaza/Palestine.....israel is your fatherland so please ask them for assistance. They should be able to help the motherland, right?

You also require our airspace.... google asia map and tell me which is the closest route to reach Bangladesh, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore for Pakistan?
If you directly fly over India then distance and fuel will be significantly reduced... or else you have to either cross Indian peninsula over Arabian Sea then go towards these countries via Indian Ocean or else you have to go through china cross her gigantic landmass and then reach these countries.... calculate...

Yes but that's a small issue at present as there is little air traffic from Pakistan to these destinations. Sri Lanka can also be used to bypass India.

Sri Lanka can be used to bypass India but at the cost of time and fuel because for Sri Lanka also you have to cross India peninsula anyways.... now traffic to these countries is little from Pakistan that I didn't know but who knows in future it may increase.....

2.8 billions its peanut for indians. they can bear it with warm hearts. they are te richest in the world

If you can order 500 Boeing and Airbus jetliners, it is not a huge amount

If you can order 500 Boeing and Airbus jetliners, it is not a huge amount

It will be a huge amount when these 500 Boeing and Airbus jetliners keep using the expensive route.

For the international, long-haul component of these orders (the wide-body Boeing 777X, 787 Dreamliners, and Airbus A350s), avoiding Pakistan is incredibly expensive.

Industry analysts note: The "Long Way Round": Westbound flights from Delhi or Mumbai to Europe and North America must fly south over the Arabian Sea before turning west.

Direct Cost Impact: Air India initially projected that the airspace ban alone adds an extra operational hit of roughly $600 million (approx. ₹5,000 crore) per year due to rerouting.

Loss of the "Non-Stop" Advantage

The real financial danger to the new wide-body fleet isn't just the extra fuel; it’s the erosion of their primary selling point.

Technical Halts: Because aircraft must fly longer distances against headwinds, flights to North America that were designed to be non-stop are forced to take "technical stops" in places like Vienna or Tbilisi to refuel.

The Revenue Hit: Technical stops require paying double the airport landing and take-off cycles, double the handling fees, and extra crew accommodation costs. More importantly, it destroys the premium "non-stop flight" edge that allows Air India to charge higher ticket prices over Gulf competitors.

Crew and Maintenance Bleed

Aircraft maintenance and pilot schedules are calculated by flight hours and cycles (one take-off and landing).

Fewer Flights, More Wear: Because a single flight takes hours longer, airlines get lower utilization out of each multi-million dollar jet.

Pilot Meltdowns: The extra flight time pushes pilots past their strict Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL). To keep these routes active, airlines must hire and roster significantly more flight crews, spiking employee expenditures.

it is funny how Pakistan continues to cause India and Indians more misery and economic damage than any weapon could in operation sindoor.........all for India only scoring couple of hits on hangers..............

I mean, it must have been worth it? right? for every Indian who wanted to fly long haul to west non-stop, Pakistan shows who is the boss.

Not just for india.
Pakistan with its geographical location can choke the world with its airspace and territory…..

Imagine the choke if all of a sudden if it bans european or american carriers from overflying it. In today’s scenario it will cause huge pains and misery for global flights between east and west…..india is just 1 small piece….

Allah SWT has blessed Pakistan such immense importance with geographical location……its sad we could never properly utilise its true potential….

Oh well, soon one day…..inshAllah
