As far as afghan refugees are concerned, it was no other than Pakistan Army (General Zia) who brought the refugees into Pakistan then invited several US congress men to visit the refugees camps. There was flow of dollars and on other hand, the military was busy establising madrassa after madrassa for producing jihadis.

Bottomline, We can never reach to a permanent solution with hatred in our minds. A prosperous neighborhood is a guarantee of a peaceful environment. Pakistan have a golden opportunity after when a pro-indian / anti-pak ashraf ghani govt is ousted. Work with taliban and earn each other trust. You going to war with them or trying to twist their arm will throw Taliban completely in alliance with TTP which would become a nightmare for Pakistan. Today, they are neutral but you are pushing them to become ally of ttp. TTP on other hand ofcourse is enemy of Pakistan and it has only one objective that is to create a war or total mistrust between Taliban & Pakistan. TTP objective is to become ally of Taliban. The establishment is exactly falling on TTP's trap.

Not just the barrel. The entire gun has been pretty much localized.

According to @farooqbhai PA currently has 570 VT4s on order of which 176 are being delivered fully assembled from China, 284 are being assembled using semi-complete kits in HIT, and remaining 110 are being built using full assembly kits at HIT.

Order for VT4 had been reduced by more than half, while bulk will now be manufactured as Haider. Figures of 570, 176, 284 are no more there.

You answered your own question basically. The Haider is just a VT4 produced in Pakistan. The VT-4 Pakistan got from China was already modified and upgraded to Pakistans specifications and also had some local parts, but with Haider, there’s significantly more local assembly, a few more local parts, and a bunch of future indigenization planned.

Yes consider the repetition of Type-90-II which is the base of Al-Khalid tank.
VT-4 is the origin point of Haider tank program tank manufactured in HIT with the help of China, you can say a localized VT-4 is Haider tank

Exactly, all projectiles are at very shallow angle. If I remember, GL6 has coverage at 20 degrees elevation. So a top attach diving in at a very steep angle from above may not be intercepted.

Cope cage is practically useless. There was an academic paper that studied the efficacy of cope cages in Ukraine and its not a good outlook. As with everything we may see in the coming years Anti Drone Defense systems implemented into APCs and MBTs.
