the answer is yes.
dont act like french dont play dirty games when it comes to arms sales LOL.
Do you forget the greek tank evaluations where the french sent jammers to jam the GPS signals for Abrams and Challengers, so as to give the Leclerc an advantage?
Or the Karachi Affair?
or angolagate?
or the Lafayette scandal?
Actually French are selling weapons for over 4 centuries with same tactics. There are dozens of events which I remember on my finger tips from several books.
I will give few examples, Three centuries earlier French used to trade arms into India. They used to sell arms to Rajas and nawabs (usually in times of Maratha empire).. The same team then used to go to neighboring / rival Raja and tell them that your neighbor got this, so you must bough this one, more advance version... This continued over the globe for centuries.
Then in 20th century, they created wars, frictions and conflicts to grow their arms industry. If one sees the map of french origin weapons then can see the pattern, how mirage 3s, mirage5s, F1s and other french equipment is sold to rival parties. Often in neighborhoods.
I remember French official statement very vividly when they were pitching Scorpene submarines to India. I laughed and was amazed how they are doing that for centuries literally. The official said that these scorpene submarines are more advance than Pakistan's Agosta submarines. Same tactic over and over again. Also, The bribes in Agosta project are all proven. Otherwise we had option to choose from German and perhaps few other european subs too. The bribes in Rafale sales to india etc. Basically Bribery is one key element of french military equipment sales where other tactics like creating conflicts don't work.
There's no comparison in dirty or actually evil games that French has played for its arms sales.
