Alleged Illegal Placer Gold Mining in Kohat:

The search for gold and alleged illegal mining in some areas of Kohat has been a matter of concern for some time. Despite a ban imposed by the administration, reports of placer gold extraction from certain areas have continued to emerge.

What ban? KPK police is corrupt to the core. KPK govt corrupt to the core. Instead of leasing out blocks to registered companies in transparent manner now people with more guns will mine gold. KPK govt will get 0. Next you know this whole area will become part of TTP. I see hundreds dead if this isn't stopped right here.

Meanwhile stupid low IQ pashtunists will cry punjab minerals le gheya. lol

As per Bronze Age culture, this is a glorious way to go. Folklore is full of such stories of Gold and fair maidens.

Worse than a central african republic. They will loot their own province and blame everyone but themselves.

BTW punjab govt successfully stopped illegal mining of gold on its side of indus river. KPK govt just need to copy paste Punjab govt instead of this loot mar of KPK gold by PTI MNAs and criminal gangs. Federal govt doesn't get a cent, provinces keep 100% of revenue.

Progress on the Attock Placer Gold Auction

To capitalize on the multi-billion dollar discovery, the Punjab Mines and Minerals Department officially moved to formalize extraction to break local monopolies and generate state revenue. Here is where the process stands:

  • NESPAK Contract Signed: The Punjab government officially signed an agreement with NESPAK for "Consultancy Services for Preparing Bidding Documents and Transaction Advisory Services."
  • Block Demarcation: The 32-kilometer stretch of the Indus River known to contain the placer gold has been successfully mapped and divided into nine specific extraction blocks.
  • Auction Committee Formed: An oversight committee, headed by the Deputy Commissioner of Attock, was established to monitor the transparency of the process.
  • Cabinet Approval: NESPAK has drafted the regulatory frameworks, transaction models, and bidding documents. The final step before public advertisement requires the formal approval of these specific rules and reserve prices by the Punjab Cabinet.
Expected Bidding Conditions

While the final granular clauses are contained in NESPAK's secure bidding documents, the auction will be conducted under the Punjab Mines and Minerals Department's strict guidelines designed to prevent the environmental and security disasters seen in neighboring provinces:

  • Open International Bidding: The auction is open to both international and local corporate investors. To avoid pooling and monopolies, bidder identities are typically kept secret during the initial submission phases.
  • Two-Tier Revenue Model: Winning bidders will be required to pay a substantial upfront "bid money" (earnest money) to secure the lease, followed by an agreed-upon yearly royalty payment to the state exchequer based on the extraction yield.
  • Eligibility Constraints: Firms cannot participate if they have been blacklisted by any government department, have defaulted on previous state dues, or are involved in unregulated mining.
  • Environmental & Security Mandates: Because the extraction takes place directly in the Indus River ecosystem, contractors will be legally bound to follow specific ecological safety protocols. Furthermore, with Section 144 actively enforced in the region to curb illegal mafias, contractors will have to coordinate with local law enforcement to secure their designated blocks.
