American man reveals Indian CEO took over a firm, booted out founders, hired Indians. Post goes viral amid H1B visa debate

Except that image is in India not the US...the whole OP sounds fishy as no names were ever mentioned.

It's a generic image of Indians. If you search the image, it shows up in a dozen different contexts.

so the founders sold the company but these idiots claim they were 'ousted'?

More often than not, the founders would have less than 50% equity, the VC firms and angel investors would own majority shares. If those investors sell the company, the new owners can sack the founders. If the company is private, they can even play dirty games like issue more shares to whomever and dilute the original founders into oblivion.

Some groups are more egregious than others. In the tech space, Indians are by far the worst by a long shot. Indians take up over 70% of the H1-B visa, not because they are more skilled but because of rampant, runaway Indian nepotism.
To be honest, indians are particularly good at that through.
1. I am strongly opposed to racial discrimination. It is standard racist behavior for us to take something that happens to one group and use it to blame an entire group.
2, The issue discussed in this thread is a phenomenon that exists in all groups globally, it is not unique to one ethnic group. As a matter of fact, it is the Chinese who are the most vocal of all the ethnic groups in the world on this issue.

Analyzing it in terms of management, any manager would like to use people they are more comfortable with as their subordinates. They have a natural affinity for the same ethnic group that has the same cultural background as themselves. So, it is an indisputable thing that Indian CEOs prefer to use Indians.

So, this issue is a typical boss-employee issue. To bash Indians on this basis just because this employee is Indian is typical racism.

This is the kind of problem that it can easily be solved by laying down sensible rules along with proper incentives and internal competition measures.

Nobody in the West dares to say anything because of political correctness. If a team was 90% white, people would complain but when a team is 90% Indian -- in a Western country! -- nobody says anything.

As I mentioned elsewhere, I have seen time and again where product quality dropped as the team got filled with Indians. It's not because the Indians are worse on average compared to others, but the focus on hiring an Indian no matter what v/s talent skews the average towards the low end.

In response to your post on the other thread which was closed:

Firstly, I was making the point that immigration by itself does not require a lawyer. In practice, most firms would use a lawyer but that does not detract from my main point that Indians favor Indian immigrants over other workers or immigrants. The immigration legal costs would be the same if they hired an Indian or non-Indian migrant.

Secondly, about tax complications, we are not talking about multinationals moving people back and forth. Visiting employees in a multinational would use the business visa not temp/perm worker visas, which this discussion is about.

Thirdly, I have been in management and hiring roles, and I know first hand how things work in real life. The whole reason consulting companies like IBM, PWC, etc. can charge $3000/day $3500/day for mid level commodity workers is because clients are lazy. Instead of doing any management themselves, they just subcontract all the work, including management, to these companies. These client managers also manage the budgets so it's all baked into the financials. Projects have a program manager, project manager, delivery manager, development manager, scrum master, solution architect, tech architect this lead, that lead.... Many projects have half as many people in management as are doing the actual technical work.

As for your final point, I have worked in gigantic government departments and huge multinational financial firms and I can tell you first hand that this kind of Indian nepotism goes unchecked because of political correctness. These companies make huge efforts to promote non-white people into management and, with so many Indians in management, nobody is going to risk their job and career complaining about Indian nepotism. Gigantic organizations like government departments and multinationals can absorb a surprisingly large amount of inefficiency and waste. I know a government department that shrugged of a $500 million project which was used barely two years before being junked. I know multinationals that wrote off projects worth tens of millions as 'learning experience'. In that context, nobody is going to bat an eye on projects that keep needing more funding because they are filled mostly with substandard Indians -- especially if the management chain to the top is also sprinkled with Indians.
There's a simple reason why no company bothers to offer riffraff like your compatriots H1B or any other visa, because seldom do you guys have anything to do with data, facts and truth.

Stop lying and stop deluding yourselves with the stories you conjure inside your vacuous heads.

Better Indians and get H1B, no business runs on any charity.

LOL, the america is sad joke now, indians can turn that into a sad toilet.

And the rise of the US is pure fluke, it is because the ruins of world war and the old great empire of the East, China, were at her historical low point.
The rise of the US is not a fluke. A well managed corporate mindset meets a continent with navigable rivers and abundant resources (including a large percentage of the world’s fresh water), and you have the most self sustainable place on earth.

India is home to the largest number of GCCs in the world, thousands of companies from all over the world not only source but nurture talent through research and development, from India

It's not really hard to understand why Indians make the largest share of H1Bs, if one really wants to. But when you are a dunderhead high on shitty conspiracy theories, then it's because Indians are sneaking their own and other yada yada yada

This is not a discussion of what happens in China or India or Vietnam. Nobody cares about countries where the majority population is from the same ethnic group.

This is a discussion about the US where the workforce is diverse and, if there is discrimination against or for a particular ethnic group, then that is illegal.

Analyzing it in terms of management, any manager would like to use people they are more comfortable with as their subordinates. If a white manager used that excuse they would be prosecuted and called racist. Here you are defending this behavior because... the person is non white? That is racist.

Why is it OK for Indians to prefer Indians but not OK for a white to prefer a white worker?

This is the kind of problem that it can easily be solved by laying down sensible rules along with proper incentives and internal competition measures.

As I explained before, the West is swamped in political correctness. Minority groups such as Indians get away with things that would be prosecuted if done by whites.

Your response itself proves my point. You are defending racial discrimination against US laws just because Indians are doing it.

That's quite rich coming from the biggest spreader of fake news in the world.

Looks to be whatsapp uni produced graphic whipped up by a newly minted software engineer aka MS Excel novice.

This phenomenon is the same for all people around the world, it is not exclusive to Indians. This article is clearly a deliberate attempt to discredit Indians by writing this this article.
Avoiding this problem requires business owners to set up appropriate rules to govern it. It can never be avoided, it can only be controlled within certain limits.
When this problem is very serious in a business, the person most responsible is the business owner, not the CEO. blaming the CEO for this is incompetence on the part of the business owner.
You are blabbering goody two shoes. This practice happened in Singapore, too. Come on you are trying too hard to be a nice guy and spewing nonsense. I know personally to be true and You never worked or met with Indians and yet you blab nonsense

I am tired of your know-all-be-nice guy attitude! go away!

Indians are so racist that they don't even spare their Indians and subject them to caste and regional discrimination. California passed a bill specifically against such caste discrimination shenanigans of Indians.

Here is the full study:

This is the usual game with statistics and there are two things to note:

Firstly, the study involves all workers, not migrant visas, which is the topic of this thread. The undisputed fact is that over 70% of H1-B visas go to Indians.

Secondly, the plot shows number of companies and percent co-ethnic employees. It does NOT account for the size of the company. So,
  • Ethnicity 1: 1000 companies with 10 employees average and 40% co-ethnic hiring = 4000 workers of that ethnicity.
  • Ethnicity 2: 500 companies with 200 employees average and 25% co-ethnic hiring = 25000 workers of that ethnicity.

Indians are so racist that they don't even spare their Indians and subject them to caste and regional discrimination. California passed a bill specifically against such caste discrimination shenanigans of Indians.

In all fairness and respect to Indians, they help fellow Indians much more than do other nationalities. Some Indians may discriminate on the basis of caste, but plenty of Indians will help a fellow Indian no matter what, and give them a job over a non-Indian.

All workers consists of all workers, including migrant workers.

And what has size of company to do with your fairy tale that Indians are "most egregious than others"?

I gave an example using numbers to show why the size of the company matters. In my example, we have 4000 Vietnamese v/s 25000 Indians benefiting from ethnic nepotism.

Here is the tabular form of the data in your graph to show that they are not taking into account the size of the company and total number of people involved.

So what you mean to say is that there are less Vietnamese in US than Indians, ok it's rocket science for you maybe

But what does size of company to do with Indians being "most egregious than others"?

@BananaRepublic @UKBengali @Proud Thamizhan

Kola bhai

The ratio of population of IND:PAK:BD is roughly 24:4:3. Now, there are 1.9 mio IND, 1.5 PAK & 0.65 BDs in UK. One could argue that there are far too many Pakistanis and too few Indians in UK.

That apart take the average income level and education level of the three nationalities. IND outshine the other two by miles.

One could argue that UK and all other developed countries would be better off with more Indian and less PAK/ BD immigrants.

Regards
