Apple reportedly exceeded $10 billion in annual sales in India for the first time in its last fiscal year.

The achievement is all the more remarkable in a country with an average annual salary of less than $3,000 – especially when factoring in that iPhones cost more in India than they do in the USA …

Apple is now a luxury status symbol and you know how Desi people can be about flaunting status.
Personaly I am happy with Chinese phone, use for 2 years, and change it..

Good cheaper option... I just want whatsup, camera and able to make phone calls... Usually

well, you also need a good web browsing experience and enough juice to run important apps like ride-sharing, but yes I have been impressed with Chinese phones too.

1. Apple's mobile options like 17, 17e, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max & AIr gave options for different economic class.

2. Banks & Financial institutions are providing easy financing options and made youth to buy more high tier phones like I phone's 17 Pro & Samsung Galaxy S27 series.

3. Nowadays even Agriculturist buying Audi & BMWs like onions who cares about Iphone.

finally iPhone no more carry luxury status, its just their software support upto 5-7 years and quality/durability over their competitors keeping ahead of others.

Every chapri village idiot has an iPhone and KTM duke (It's the classic symbol). iPhone lost it's premium status after we started getting micro loans with relaxed installments and now everyone can "afford" one.

And if you're mincing words it sounds like this. Lol!

Thanks for posting this thread.

Apple sold almost $65-billion worth of products in China in 2025. Despite being roughly the same population, Chinese are vastly more affluent and China is more profitable for companies than India.

India is a paper tiger that uses flimsy stats to create an imaginary narrative.

Yes, and it was barely anything just a few years back and grew 20% YoY to $10bn. The point of the thread by OP was indicating towards the compounding growth.

If same continues this year then it'll grow to $12 bn in 2026 and maybe $20bn by 2030.

And a trivia, "China" here means greater China region inclusive of Taiwan.

That’s fine, but do not ever compare yourself with China. Compare yourself with small countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

You are nothing compared to China.

False equivalence. Barely 1.5 to 2 lakh iPhones are usually imported/sold a year in pak, that's like more than a dozen and a half times less than India... per capita. With no data on BD and less said about Afg the better. The gap in purchasing power between these countries and India is roughly same as that between India and China. Or likely worse.Screenshot 2026-08-13 at 10.35.23 AM.png

Not just with iPhones, its the same case with production and consumption of everything be it energy, automobiles, electronics, financial services and so on. But then that isn't what the thread is about, it is about Apple's growing revenue in India.
You are nothing compared to China.
We know that, but we're narrowing the gap however slow the process is.
