Apple unveils its first foldable phone the IPhone Duo

I already mentioned this in a previous post. I currently don't have the disposable income to pay two grand for a phone.

Even if I did though, I couldn't rationalize spending that kind of money on a phone.
Like, do more expensive phones even differ from mid price ones in any way that matters for the average user?

For the average user, the answer is no. For casual users, a mid-ranged can do 90% to 95% of what a flagship phone can do.

Now for power users who edit video or play flagship level games on a regular basis, a flagship phone might be necessary

Same here! I'm mostly a casual user. Might play a high intensity mobile game now and then, but that's about it
I don't play games at all. I only use my phone for web browsing, social media to get info of the latest world news and language learning. Everything that I watch and play, I watch and play on PC. I don't like tablets too.

Same for me for the most part. Actually the main thing I use on my phone aside from calling and texting is listening to music on an almost constant basis

I 🫶 Spotify premium

To be frank, I don't like Apple as a whole and their walled garden of expensive products.

I've owned one Apple device in my entire life which was the iPhone XR, it was pretty good for my needs.

However I didn't like the walled garden. That's why I love my pixel so much. Super customizable for my needs

That Apple walled garden equates to "comfort" for those of us who have spent way way way too much time fighting with computer hardware that just doesn't want to work.

I can't remember the last time I had to reboot my iPhone or MacBook Pro...it just works and is on constantly. Meanwhile my stupid Windows 11 computer keeps upgrading and rebooting...making me have to rearrange things back to the way they were.

That's fine for you. I get why a lot of people like iPhones. We all have our personal preferences. I personally don't like the walled garden.

I like to tweak

I just want to be able to make a call, send / receive texts and email, and on occasion, use map app of choice.

For anything else, I bought what was the top of the line Samsung tablet at the time.
