Arabic Coffee shop

Something I have always written and something that is easily confirmed by being in the presence of Arabs across the world whether within the Arab world or one of the world's largest diasporas (Arab diaspora) that is present in practically every single country on earth.

A little reminder:

second place, third place and fourth place (Ancient Egyptians, Ancient Mesopotamians and Assyrians) are all 3 fellow Semitic-speaking/Afro-Asiatic speaking peoples closely related to Arabs on every front, genetically as well.

As a side note, Saudi Arabians, outside of modern-day Egyptians, are most closely related genetically to ancient Egyptians as confirmed by every DNA tests.

Even closer than many modern-day Egyptians, lol.

Many modern-day Egyptians (not even including the Nubians) have fairly recent Sub-Saharan ancestry. It is clearly visible among many Egyptians just by looking at them.

@The SC

King Charles is a well known Arabist and admirer of the Arab world.

Some even have claimed that he is secretly a Muslim even though he is the head of the Anglican Church.

Regardless I think that he is very much pro-Arab and admirers the Arab world and its civilizations (Islamic and pre-Islamic alike).

Omanis are indeed generally great people but the government should do a better job of stopping smuggling to the Houthi terrorist cult. They should also once and for all realize the nature of the Arabized but anti-Arab and anti-Muslim Khomeinist regime (current) of Iran.

The idea is still relevant and alive but it's definitely fading over time. Same can be said about all irredentist ideas in the context of the Middle East.

Iranians are Arabs. you should own them.

80% is a remarkably high percentage and it is across all areas of the Arab world as every study confirms. The numbers are very consistent as well across decades. All in the midst of great turmoil in the Arab world.

Not sure if there are any irredentist ideas in the Middle East that are comparable to the Arab world. For starters there is no such real concept anywhere else that is such deeply rooted in past history, genetic, ethnic, cultural, linguistic and religious (the two last ones are the most important elements), geographic proximity (you can walk from Oman on foot to Mauritania without ever crossing a single non-Arab country) anywhere in the region.

BTW, I agree that it is fading in the sense that most Arabs know that the practically of one unified Arab nation is unrealistic nowadays and likely will be that in the future as well but you never know.

If somehow one powerful Arab ruler was able to unify the Arab world and actively campaigned for it he would most likely get elected. That is how strong the idea remains.

Whether among secular or Islamist circles which is also very interesting.

Elaborated a bit here as I was engaged in several simultaneous discussion.

@Eşbah

Iranians are Arabs. you should own them.
Only the Iranian Arabs who number in the millions and who are the most underreported ethnic group in Iran for political reasons. We have several Iranian users on this little forum (PDF) who openly claim Arab, full or partial ancestry. Go figure.

But in all seriousness, influence does not equal claims of ownership which is why you will not find a single Arab (sane) that will claim Iranians other than Iranian Arabs.

I have had the fortune of trying most of the world's main cuisines but I have to admit that Yemeni cuisine is one of the best and most underrated cuisines. I don't know a single person who dislikes it.

It has a perfect blend of spices, herbs, meat, seafood, vegetables/fruits as well as variety and deep flavors. Same could be said about Hejazi cuisine which is very much alike in many ways.

Some of the world's best lamb and meat dishes are Yemeni/Hejazi/Arabian.

Interestingly I once read up on the Yemeni Israeli community and within Israel it is quite well-known and well-established that the Yemeni Israeli community makes the best food as well.

Apparently they have the best singers in Israeli too.

This Youtube channel is run by a British or American lady married to a Yemeni man. She has made 141 videos of authentic Yemeni dishes. She has around 250.000 followers on Youtube so she is doing relatively well.

Not surprised that there is an entire Arab street in freaking Bangkok of all places.

A very underrated cuisine.

In Europe it seems that it is most well-known in the UK given that the Yemenis are the oldest Muslim migrant group to the UK with the earliest Yemeni UK communities originating in the 1860's. Mostly merchants, sailors and dock workers.

I know that there are quite a few Yemeni (and Saudi Arabian for that matter as well as practically every other Arab cuisine - even regional) in London.

I know that there is a famous Yemeni restaurant in Berlin as well that many Arabs from Scandinavia and elsewhere in North Europe travel to.

Unfortunately there are not too many Yemeni/Saudi Arabian restaurants in Europe outside of the UK and some main towns in France, Germany, Spain and Italy. There are many more in the US and Canada from my experience but that might have changed for the better or worse today. Many restaurants went bankrupt after and during COVID..
