Bhai the volume at CMH rawalpindi is insane and way more compared to PIMS. But the difference is majority of officers including generals are treated at CMH, so they've maintained those standards. Where as majority of our civilian cadre end up abroad including chutyias from PMLN, and PPP. Like someone said you won't give a shit about healthcare until you utilise it.

I genuinely don't understand how you have convinced yourself that “the army has political power” = “the army personally runs every civilian hospital.”

By your logic:

PIMS is dysfunctional? Army.
Doctors are underpaid? Army.
Civilian administrators fail? Army.
Procurement fails? Army.
Hospitals in Sindh reuse syringes and spread HIV? Army.
A civilian doctor makes a clinical mistake? Army somehow.

At this point, the military isn't a political institution in your argument. It's your explanation for literally everything.

I've actually worked across different healthcare institutions. The reality is far less exciting: Pakistan's healthcare system is neglected, badly managed, chronically underfunded and routinely treats doctors like disposable labor. That problem exists across civilian institutions regardless of whatever political theory you have constructed in your head, and whatever political party has been in power.

And here's the simplest test:

Remove the military from politics tomorrow. Would PIMS suddenly become functional?

Would the same bureaucracy disappear?
Would incompetent administrators suddenly become competent?
Would political appointments stop?
Would doctors suddenly get properly paid?
Would procurement suddenly work?
Would hospitals in Sindh suddenly stop reusing syringes?

Obviously fucking not.

So if you are blaming the military for a specific death, show the specific military decision that caused it. Not “they rule the country,” not “CMH is better,” not “the government was installed by them.”

Show the causal chain.

Otherwise you're not doing healthcare accountability. You're taking every failure in Pakistan, putting an Army sticker on it, and calling the investigation finished.

And the funniest part is that you're making this argument while claiming to understand healthcare. You should know better than anyone that a hospital doesn't stop being a civilian institution simply because the country's political system is dysfunctional.

If your entire explanation for a neonatal death is “the army rules Pakistan,” then you haven't identified the cause of the death. You've just identified the political enemy you wanted to blame before you ever looked at the hospital. If military personnel are deputed to PIMS, that does not mean the Army suddenly runs every department, controls every civilian employee, or is responsible for every clinical outcome. Deputation is not the same thing as operational ownership.

PIMS authorities closed the gates of the hospital after the fire broke out. This also caused delays to fire brigade trying to get in.
