At least 14 newborn babies killed after fire breaks out in Pakistan hospital

There is a problem in Pakistan of newborns being stolen by gangs from hospitals so they can be sold to childless couples. One such incident happened at PIMS in 2015.

The only solution implemented by Pakistani hospital administrators was to lock the maternity wards. However this half-measure presents major problems such as when staff runs away in a fire.

the question here is - what is next?
Because PTI is a cult, there is a messiah complex and at the end THAT TOO IS PART OF THE CULTURE.

When you see someone call IK their Murshid do you think it has anything less to with the peeri mureedi culture of wanting holy men to put in saffron and worship their graves?

To date from its peak in thousands people go to Bhutto's "Mazar" in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh? That man who has NOTHING that makes him holy, or in general other than the legacy of starting the bomb ruined Pakistan in so many ways.

There were people who for years went to Zia's grave "chadar charhanay"...
And Im sure there will be those who will go IK's grave - members here included.

What cultural change will that do?
Precisely cultural change will remove this menace. It isn't a flip of a switch, it's a long drawn effort..but we are in the habit of wanting light switches and gimmicky facades.

When everyone knows their job and livelihood is on the line because of their performance and merit, things do fall in line. The whole incentive culture is wrong in this country.

Once you actually start to work and reap benefits, then the whole peeri mureedi wanes as well. No one is then beholden to their baray sahab to get their right.

But then it's in the interests of all the stakeholders to keep the gravy train going.
The problem isnt "hakoomat ko galiyan" - DO BC - aik number ke harami hain wardi ke andar ya bahar.

Uss ke baad kya?
What is the plan?

Saaray Fauji maar dein?
Maar do - Sou bismillah.. Abay karo tu..

Then what @Jango ?
What happens after?
What's the plan after?
No one's saying sab ko mar do. That'll just make it worse, didn't Corp Commander house give you a lesson? :P

Sab ko bas wohi karnay do jo us ka kaam hai.

Plan is to remove the stranglehold on every institution of the country by the bureaucrats and faujis. Get a merit based system in for bureaucrats, professionals...let the politicians come in on their own.

But everyone has kompromat on each other, everyone is beholden to someone, to is liay yeh sab apnay favors nikalnay kay chakkar main hotay hain.

Just look at that frigging moron the new crypto guy...the only reason he is in the position is because of his azeez rishtedar, and he's been selling snakeoil for 2 years now. Then you say keh faujion ko koi banda kyun bolay -_-. To phir apnay bhanjay ko hamaray par musallat kyun kar rahay ho?

It is a corrupt society.
This is the main culprit. A corrupt and incompetent society cannot follow basic health and safety protocols. Even if you train them for 1 year, they will still make similar mistakes. Professional and hardworking society will take even a small detail seriously and when a dangerous time comes they will save as much lives as possible.

Very sad and heartbreaking news. The health minister needs to be punished for this aswell as those in charge of the hospital.

From what I read, the witnesses are saying the door the to the ward was locked but hospital people are saying it was shut and manned by a person for the safety of the children (just incase someone steals a child). AC unit caught a fire and within minutes it spread to the whole ward. The staff should have used fire extinguishers immediately and took the children out of the room. The equipment also needed to be maintained, why did the fire happen in the first place? And to be fair if a fire happens its difficult to save people, this is why hospitals need to make sure the fire doesnt happen in the first place, the equipment needs to be safe and maintained.

Hospital fires in Pakistan, the list.

Once someone proposes a system which encroaches on his kingdom, he and his cadre will throw a fit. And we would be stuck. Same goes with every other part of the system.
Bro you hit the nail on the head but this is to with desi mentality, I worked in desi run education places in the western world, you inform those in charge on health and safety, they believe your challenging their authority, even if your idea is the correct one, they will not follow it because they dont want anyone else to get credit. For example we have masjids with 1000 people praying but what if something bad happens, it will be chaos, noone has ever taught health and safety or to follow what protocols just incase of fire, what people miss is, it is the smoke that kills.

But for a hospital ward, it is very difficult to save people once fire and smoke spreads, so the staff only have a few minutes to immediately tackle the fire, in order to make way to save the patients.

I guess it can happen

My concern is a fire does not happen in a hospital and kill 14 babies. Was it a poor maintenance issue of this equipment or lack of it!
It was the AC unit, it must be faulty or not maintained properly.
Firstly the hospitals need to make sure the fire doesnt happen in the first place, ie equipment safety, then make protocols on how to save patients in a ward if fire happens, imagine a ward has 30 patients who cannot move, if fire happens only a few staff will be available immediately. They need to be especially trained for this situation, have some equipment available where they can immediately transfer 30 babies to safety and shut the door behind to protect them from fire and smoke. That is the only way.

Is this PIMS hospital fire or something other place. The first 2 nurses could have saved alot of the babies, they needed to immediately wear special aprons where you can place 4 babies and move them to safe room and quickly go back and get the rest.

Something like this

Well the problem here is -how?
There is already an attempt that failed because precisely like that Crypto guy - peerni pressured/mureeded her husband on whom we had such high hopes to plant idiots all over REPLACING merit which he started off with and then his own ego started sabotaging it.

He wasnt even a fauji... so if that mentality without guns did that then we already know what the mentality is with guns.
Clearly that approach with voting , democratic change/selection or whatever has failed miserably and we're only creating more and more chasms.

So far no one has found a SINGLE actual realistic path to do the bold even those thinking of using force are busy in being cut up or cutting up.

Which is why I asked the question to everyone else - then what?

What's the "Lets start here - then this by month and this by next year and so on" - I sat with Dr Alvi(with a dev and a PM) as he laid out his vision for what PTI's election monitoring platform would be - incorporating news and reports and so on.
I left that project but there I saw the inklings of at least a plan.. Then the personality worship created an egomaniac who took all of these great ideas and shoved them down the dirt because he was figurehead, not a leader.

If there has to be change then it cannot be with political sloganeering..
It has to be on every one of these issues and creating the protest - but with the right message. Whether its the hospital, the mrs colonel, missing persons or so on - BUT it cannot have a political slogan.. it cannot have an ethnic or racial color - it cannot be led by messiahs...

It has to be led by everyone
