The establishment excluded Maulana from the Gilgit-Baltistan elections, causing tensions between him and the establishment. In response, Maulana has been playing his political cards aggressively, even going below the belt by criticizing the establishment over the Kargil incident. Ultimately, there will likely be some negotiation, Maulana is expected to be allotted a few seats in Azad Kashmir. If it comes to point of no return, I am afraid that he might end up going to Jail or forced to leave Pakistan. I hope he doesn't end up going to Africa, or this could all be a paid drama.

As for the broader situation, many observers argue that after years of political turmoil, Pakistan’s establishment still appears more focused on political engineering than on delivering the deep structural reforms the country urgently needs. Instead of stabilizing institutions, strengthening governance, or addressing economic vulnerabilities, the system continues to revolve around power management and short‑term maneuvering, leaving long‑term reform on the sidelines.
