Bangladesh Economy

It's an old trope! The 22 families who control all the wealth of Pakistan. The so called socialists of Bengal backed by their Indian masters were spewing this for the last 60 years.
It's all nonsensical folklore.

If 1% of the population is super rich, it doesn't automatically mean that 99% are super poor.

You would be surprised to see how many mansions are being built all the time in Pakistani villages. It's like there's a race to build the tallest mansion.

Mostly Punjab right?

That's your anti-Pakistan nationalism speaking, I think.

I've only ever been to Punjab and Kashmir.
Punjab has always absorbed a lot of people from other provinces.
O bhai, why so furious? It was just an innocent curious question! Because in my home Division Sylhet, villages are flooded with empty mansions too. Owned by our NRBs.
.
I heard Punjabis NRPs does the same. That's why I asked...

It's true to some extent. Especially for those people who have moved to Europe and North America.

After migrating they build massive mansions in Pakistan which they use as their main residence when holidaying in Pakistan.

Because some of BD's government functions are much weaker than neighbouring Pak and India. For example, this year they targeted over $60 billions in revenue collection. But very likely won't be getting there.

However, BD's trade volume is sizably higher than Pak. So there's that. For example Pakistan total trade volume in 2024-2025 was $90.48 billion. BD's was $134 billions in the same period. Almost 50% higher.

Pakistan trade of services and goods is $116bn for 2025-26. In 2024-25 it was $110bn.

They wanted to merge banglalink with btcl, I wonder how far they are in that process.

Won't be good for customers, with telecoms becoming more consolidated. Just like how we pay outrageous amount for plans in Canada.

Canada operates in a very different landscape. In Bangladesh, they need consolidation to raise capital for infrastructure growth. ARPU is super low in Bangladesh, which is why consolidation is the only way for businesses to survive. It happened both in India and Pakistan, they also like us they had numerous operators. Now it is significantly reduced.

As long as it benefits the consumers by lowering cost and better service, I have no concerns.
