Bangladesh Economy

After the completion of democracy in BD. I'm a little jealous... Bangladeshis have a bright future ahead. But we don't know where the future is.

Even with some labour unrest, BD economy is again starting to fire on all cylinders. So that is 11 billion US dollars just for good exports in first 3 months of this fiscal and we can add another 2 billion US dollars for services.

"Exports grow 6.78% in September

Earnings reach $3.51b as EPB publishes corrected export data after four months

Bangladesh's merchandise exports grew by 6.78% year-on-year in September, primarily driven by readymade garment shipments, despite prolonged labour unrest in various parts of the country hampering production."

Good. Looks like US would award BD a GSP status after Hasina has been removed. IMF might've taken that too into consideration in calculating BD export growth.
Trump won't allow it.

Indians abandoning their country en masse and yet in their dreamworld Bangladeshis wanna settle in India. India of all places!! where 50% of worlds poorest roam around and muslims are treated as second class citizen.

BD lost GSP access to US in 2013.

The comparison was made to show that BD has a faster underlying growth rate as some Indian posters were declaring BD economy dead over the last 3-4 months.

Like I have said before it is all good healthy economy competition between BD and India and the difference in growth rates are only like 0.5% and so somewhat irrelevant.
60% of your exports goes to EU alone. I wouldn't be concerned with GSP status given by US when less than 20% of it is to the US.
BD economy is not in a great place, partly due to the industry of choice you decide to concentrate your workforce on. It's very volatile and vulnerable to external shocks. I wouldn't even compare India BD economies there is nothing in common apart from us being neighbours. That's why I am amused by your comparison. This is neither healthy it's a negative comparison.

Keep living in supa powa fantasy
It's not a fantasy. Why a lot of Bangladeshis cross to India illegally as if they are going to their aunts house? People are starting to get vary of it and together with the negativity surrounding BD the reactions are only getting sharp and violent.

Compared to Sep 2023 (corrected figures), looks like some guys are desperate to show growth

In essence loss of GSP status proved that BD can survive without any special trade privileges. Exports to US have risen at the same rate as that to the EU over the last 10 years.

So where is the advantage in quotas?

In fact I have argued for many years that EU/European quotas are holding BD back and the industry will become less lazy without quotas and tariff-free trade.

No, the BD economy does not just survive on garments as non-garment exports has been rising twice as fast as garments over the last decade. It is not noticeable yet as garments are such a large share of exports still.

BD exported around 10 billion US dollars of services in last fiscal and that is again rising much faster than garments.

Use your common sense.
If you were dirt poor Bangladeshi: Why would you move to a foreign country like India, which have 10X more proverty stricken people and hates muslims, when theres OK job opportunities in BD?

Just so you know - that twitter handle is BAL funded propaganda machine. Active since the fall of Hasina. So just be careful sharing info from such sources. Not saying this one is false, but know that this is a biased source of information.

Preach! You should ask them illegals this question. They even flaunt it on social medias. My guess is they are overpopulated. It's 160+ million living in a place smaller than Maharashtra in India.

According to Daily Industry, there may have been one million Indians in Bangladesh illegally in 2022.
Bangladesh becomes 4th largest remittance source for India, remitting over $10.00 billion since 2017 lol
If u look at remittances to Bangladesh data India is nowhere on the list. Why would anyone wants to migrate to India of all places? lol
