Great news for Bangladesh and the Rohingya refugees if the Burmese keep their word. Less strain on Bangladesh and freedom for Rohingya refugees who have been confined to unsafe refugee camp for years.

Bangladesh is outraged that the absconding convicted genocider Sheikh Hasina was allowed this evening to engage in live interaction with the media in New Delhi where she and her henchmen launched venomous vitriol against the State of Bangladesh and her people.
Dhaka deeply regrets that in spite of concerns conveyed apriori to the Government of India about the likely ramifications of this event on the reset of our bilateral relations, this public event was permitted to be held.
On a day when the people of Bangladesh are observing the second anniversary of the July Revolution, this interaction by Sheikh Hasina on the Indian soil stands as an affront to the sovereignty of Bangladesh and a grievous insult to the martyrs of the July Revolution.
The denial of facts established by the United Nations, including gruesome killing of the innocent civilians including minor children during July-August 2024 by the fascist regime, stands as a futile attempt by the absconding convicted mass murderer Hasina and her criminal cohort to reverse the tide of history. The people of Bangladesh had already rejected such heinous attempts in the past and continue to do so now.
Upholding the spirit of the July Revolution, our people have firmly resolved that our nation will never again go back to the dark days of fascism and that Bangladesh will never be a client State. Convicted mass murderer Hasina and her mafia enterprise will never have a place in the polity of Bangladesh.
Bangladesh desires to maintain a constructive, mutually beneficial, and forward-looking relationship with India based on sovereign equality, mutual respect, non-interference in each other's internal affairs, and national dignity. Regrettably, Bangladesh’s repeated requests to the Government of India for returning convicted criminal Hasina to Bangladesh under the Extradition Treaty signed between Bangladesh and India in 2013, has not yet elicited a response. On the contrary, allowing her the opportunity to openly interact with the media under any pretext is deeply hurtful to our people’s sentiment and detrimental to the development of harmonious bilateral relations between Bangladesh and India.

Treaty forbades political prisoners from being send across. This was put in place to avoid situations like this. Tomorrow, when another "revolution" takes place and BNP leadership may find themselves in a similar situation they sure would hope India to respect the treaty provisions and extend the same courtesy. Rhetoric is for public consumption. They may send angry notes too.
Anyone who believes India is going to send Hasina to the gallows was not paying attention to Indo-BD relationship.

It's like you skipped the whole point. It doesn't matter if she is loyal servant or arch enemy for India, you can't use extradition treaty to settle political scores.
How did Hasina dropped in India, not from Sky or through teleportation. She landed on a Military Jet, a military that took over from her.

Political score? Are you really going with that line? She was responsible for directing law enforcement to use lethal force on civilian protestors that lead to the death of 1400 people. She was tried and convicted through the legal system.
Do not try to revise history.
Everything is documented. She would be convicted in any court in the world given the amount of video and documented evidence against her.
As for her reaching India - that's her relative Army Chief showing mercy on her, by arranging that flight out of BD. She would otherwise have been lynched by the thousands of angry protesters who stormed her residence on August 5th.

Keyword here is 'directing'. In India we have rules that allows 'shoot at sight' orders dirscting police if there is a riot. They are political decisions and it comes with immunity from prosecution. The fact is what Hasina did is not a crime in India she made a political decision it was wrong and she suffered the consequences of it. You can convict all you want for an extradition to happen the crime should be non political in nature and it should also be a crime in India.
As for her support, well we can never know can we? We don't know she has the support of the larger public or not. Her political party is banned, but the so called free and fair election didn't give majority to the student leaders rather public voted for what was available BNP.
Not very democratic which is another reason we don't want to extradite her, we cannot know if she is popular or not. What if she is, and we got her killed and then the next government turns hard against us.
This is the safest play for India right now, I hear she is going back in December so we all can relax, it relieves the pressure on us and you can do what you want to.

You are fortunate that India never had a mass casualty incident to the extent it did in Bangladesh and I hope it never happens. If you ever get to a point where one of your own leader orders the death of 1400+ people and then flees, I am very certain that the subsequent Indian government will try their very best by using all their leverages to extradite the culprit, and rightly so.
The bottomline is - Hasina served India loyally and India cannot give her up, as it will make it harder for them to find loyal stooges in the neighborhood. India is looking after its own interest and I completely get it.
As for Hasina coming to Bangladesh - she has been a serial liar. So there is no reason to believe her. She is pulling this stunt to rile up her low level party men, who suffered and went underground after she fled. She wants people to come to street and create chaos and destabilize the BNP government. She tried this tactic last year too during interim government, but chickened out like Trump. I expect the same to happen this year.

Uh we did have such a regime, Indira Gandhi when she declared emergency close to 2k people died. Most of the opposition was jailed (some of them serve in current Modi cabinet) and tortured and guess what happened? She lost the next election and then she won the election after. So all it took was just one election cycle.
Public memory is short. Alliegeances are temporary, and like I said before, tomorrow another government which maybe in support of SHW comes to power and they may have a different point of view, we just don't want to take any risks.
