Bangladesh Keen To Join Saudi-Pak-Turkey Defence Alliance, Says PM's Top Aide

What does Bangladesh bring to the table?

They would not really contribute anything as there armed forces are abysmal out of date and a mess. There location sucks in faraway place let’s see Mecca try setting up air traffic or naval logistics hub to that country. What a farce this will turn into: if Bangladesh candidate is approved:

All
These fanboys yapping on about benefits of Bangladesh . They’re on the side of India sandwiched between india and Myanmar.

And all the armchair Rommels here seem to think of geography alone while wars are ultimately won by economics.

The country is trapped between enemies. And we can't ignore this geography .Geography is also based on countries access to resources and trading. We know india is in a position to control Dhaka economic trade routes.

India, and Israel UAE are allies have a pact of some sort. What do you do when Delhi locks up Bangladesh if it joins the pact on behave of Israel ?

I'm gonna start to make a few points.

Firstly, we don't know the real purpose and reason for the Mecca accords.

Let's keep that in mind.

But I would say one possible reason is to further cooperation amongst Muslim nations in defence and geopolitical matters.

Key to this is weapons independence from outside powers.

And key to this is the development of the Turkish military industry.

It would be in Turkish interests for Bangladesh to allocate more money and effort into its military.

should have also included non muslim states like sri lanka and china in this pact. sri lanka could provide a very narrow sea lane to bangladesh and the inclusion of china would have completely neutered india allowing the pact to focus on more important issues.

I don’t know about Bangladesh joining Mecca pact. My Simple answer is … no
But I said in my original post Bangladesh should most definitely expand their military they need a complete overhaul of their defence and to invest in it.

Re-read the second line in my previous post.

There is no way we can understand what exactly is going on and in what context Bangladesh fits in with the Mecca accords.

A second point to be made is the situation where Bangladesh does develop its capabilties.

Pull up a map.

Imagine a South Asia where India has to deal with a potential 3 fronts.

Especially if Bangladesh develops asymmetric offensive capabilities such a modern submarine fleet.

It would take the burden off of Pakistan somewhat.

Also keep in mind whats happening in the world.

Weird combinations of alliances and interests which apparently come down on religious lines.

Etc. Greece, India, Israel. UAE is the outlier.

Also keep in mind Bangladesh has a population of about 180 million and a median age of about 26.

A GDP of about 500 billion.

And a defence budget of about 4 billion.

Meaning there is obvious room for improvement.

Are you serious?

this whole “India nukes Türkiye” argument isn’t grounded in reality. If India ever launched a nuclear strike on a NATO member, the consequences wouldn’t be about Türkiye alone .. it would be about NATO’s collective response.

Under Article 5, an attack on one member is treated as an attack on all. That doesn’t automatically mean nuclear retaliation, but it does mean India would instantly become an adversary of the entire alliance: the US, UK, France, Germany, Italy, and every other NATO state. Economically, diplomatically, militarily — India would be isolated overnight.

And let’s clear up another point: Türkiye actually has real allies and strategic partners. It’s a NATO member with institutional, military, and intelligence ties that have existed for decades. It has defense cooperation with the US, UK, Italy, Spain, South Korea, Qatar, Azerbaijan, Turkic states and a long list of states that work with Ankara on drones, engines, missiles, and joint exercises. Even countries that disagree with Türkiye politically still maintain military channels because of its geography and industrial capability.

India, on the other hand, is “alone,” and it operates in a very different diplomatic reality. It’s not part of any mutual defense alliance. QUAD is not a military pact. SCO is not a military pact. BRICS is not a military pact. India’s partnerships are mostly bilateral, transactional, and non‑binding. That’s not a criticism — it’s simply how India chooses to structure its foreign policy. But it also means India does not have the kind of guaranteed collective defense response that NATO members do.

So the “you’d let your nation be wiped out” line isn’t even in the realm of real geopolitics.

India would not exist if they tried that stunt. These Indians are so delusional its funny. :ROFLMAO:

I have already cleared this part up about Turkey being a part of NATO up in my previous post.

" You can not be a member of two competing defense pacts and then hold members of your first defense pact hostage to wars of your allies, of your new defense pact.

Btw Nato Article 5 only comes into effect when a member nation is attacked.

If Turkey send its armed forces fight to against India, to fight along with Pakistan, then it is Turkey which is attacking India first and no Nato member will intervene, when India responds."

Essentially what you are trying to say up there is since Turkey is a part of NATO, now Turkey has entered into defense pact with Pakistan, hence Pakistan has become a member of NATO.

And any attack on Pakistan will be responded by NATO..which is an idiotic assumption.

You would be foolish to belive that Pakistan would or could deploy nuclear weapons against Israel.

Since its inception Pakistan has gone out of its way to assure the world, they are not a direct threat to Israel and they have only one enemy in world and that is India.

That is why they have been allowed to develop/ keep their nukes.

If there is even a hint of Pakistan being a nuclear threat to Israel. Pakistan nukes would be taken out.

And if Pakistan could have provided nuclear umbrella to any one against Israel, they would already done it for Palestinians.
I agree. Pakistan nukes are only for its defence, to defend against India who threaten our existence. Against Israel no Muslim nation would dare to harm them since they will face the Usa. Ofcourse this doesnt mean Muslim nations cannot sign pacts, to improve their militaries, work with each other. However Pakistan always maintained they will defend Saudia Arabia, and this pact means Al Saud has more security to protect its Kingdom and its interests, this is the main reason for the pact, SA interests in Yemen, Syria, Lebanon, Somalia, Sudan etc will be protected or that is the goal.
