Bangladesh Keen To Join Saudi-Pak-Turkey Defence Alliance, Says PM's Top Aide

Yes sar, India is a first world superpower. 💪💪
Common.... Bangladesh has no cultural or geographical connection with middle east or west Asia..... Bangladesh is culturally, geographically connected with India..... our cuisine, dressing also similar.... we are proud south Asians...

common let's live together, let's die together :)
Don't go away from your best buddy India...

Honestly, that reads like a freeride wishlist. If al Sauds are going to provide financial concessions and benefits to Bangladesh, they would expect BD to help defend them in return. And currently, they are being attacked by Iran and her allies. If BD doesn't want to risk being on the wrong side of Houthis and Iran, what value does it bring to the table. You have yourself said al Sauds are covertly friendly towards Israel, so they have no need of any Bangladeshi help against Israel.
By showing interest without any invitation Bangladesh has already risked his relationship with Iran... they are in a desperate situation and hoping to work on Pakistan model like joining others war will also help them to get money, weapons, oil and other stuff.... if not that they can get something from India.....

"Saaaaar, BD is Indian property! Pleaj do as we tell you!"

He is facing many headwinds- fuel crisis due to Iran war, expiry of Ganges Treaty, protectionist USA, loss of LDC status, effects of economic retaliation by India during Yunus rule, return of Sheikh Hasina, pressure from Jamaat and others who think he is continuation of the status quo.

As for the Makkah alliance, BD has not been invited, so any talk of joining it is moot. It seems more like a bargaining chip with India, for whatever it is worth.

Even if he had none of these problems, he wouldn't. He isn't like his father.

The amount of damage modi has done to india domestically by wasting all the money on vanity brags and foreign policy making all neighbour countries hostile to it. In a 3 front war, when Bangladesh joins the pact, the smartest solution to hurting india is to attack the soft belly of the north east states. The bulk of indians will be sitting there getting bombed and surrendering to china/pakistan so the real winners would be Bangladesh if they take North East and bring 70million of their own people into those regions to create a new regional power.

Study about the strength of Indian military deployed in Siliguri corridor and NE states Assam, meghalaya and tripura.....

Besides north east states or even chicken neck Siliguri corridor is not some easy task to capture so easily as you are just whining without even studying the terrain of that region....

I'm not underestimating Bangladesh military strength as they have decent size and fire power but considering strength of the Indian military in that region and looking at the terrain such a misadventure may even result in opposite by costing Bangladesh himself in the form of loosing his chicken neck at Chittagong devision or rangpur devision.... go study something about Bangladesh map....

Haha yeah I admit I'm messing around a little but whether a nation seeks greatness and prosperity is completely up to whether their people are willing to sacrifice and fight for it.

Please keep the trolling away from the thread. If someone is making a ridiculous claim, counter with valid reasoning.

But If we are trying to score cheap points, I can definitely share some pictures and videos that will put your countrymen to shame and make you swallow your own words.

I addressed your point regarding annexing NE -it is unrealistic and unnecessary.
If Bangladesh is attacked by India, we should retaliate by maximising damage to Indian economy, rather than drain our own economy trying to annex hostile land.

He is just messing around man.

The whole point of any defence pact is deterrence.

Look at NATO - in the decades since inception - how many times have NATO went head on against the country they formed to take on i.e. Russia? Even after 4 years in Ukraine, they have only been passive with weapons, training and spec ops support. I don't count Iraq and Afghan war, because they weren't against any nuclear superpower.

The Mecca Pact will be similar. If Turkey and Israel get at it tomorrow - Turkey is capable on its own to handle Israel. Likewise Saudis will not call in Pakistan or Turkey for their war in Yemen, and Pakistan won't call on Saudis for war with India. The fact that Pakistan and Turkey is allied with Saudi, gives them deterrence against Iran - which is the real reason behind the Saudis wanting this pact.

Only under extremely rare and exceptional circumstances the treaty will likely to trigger clause for a combined operation. But it's the fact that you have allies who can passively support and potentially actively support you in case you are in a pickle, is a confidence booster and a deterrence to your enemy.

Bangladesh joining the pact benefits Bangladesh in the form of deterrence against India which should reduce their interference in our internal affairs. It improves our armed forces through improved training and much needed modernization expenditure that we will be required to make as part of the alliance. It should help us root out disloyal moles that India placed in our armed forces in the last 15 years under Hasina.

As for the benefit to existing pact - the founding members can utilize the geographical location as needed. Plus, less critical operations can be delegated to Bangladesh who are less experienced in warfare, while their own troops can be deployed for critical missions. For Pakistan specifically - just the inclusion of Bangladesh in the alliance will result in India deploying more troops in the Eastern wing. India already is armed to teeth on the Eastern wing as it is, but they will have to increase it even more. This will create an undue stress on India which is to Pakistan's advantage.

Those are the only reasons I can think of if the founders of the Mecca pact ever wants to let Bangladesh in.
