Adviser on Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Professor Asif Nazrul said that after the fall of the Awami League government on August 5 in a student uprising, a constitutional government was formed as no party spoke of a revolutionary government.
He said this at a discussion on 'Progress of Democracy, Upcoming Challenges and Ways of Transition' organized by Brain and Adarsh Publications at Bangla Academy on Thursday (October 24) afternoon.
The legal adviser said, 'When the army chief called on the 5th, the BNP has gone, the Jamaat has gone, the democracy stage has also gone. Three percent of the National Party went there. I was sitting in a corner. At that time, no party talked about forming a revolutionary government instead of a constitutional government. If it went wrong, we were all wrong in that situation.'
He said, if you want a good democracy, you should not only hold elections, but some reforms should be made so that fascists do not develop. Fascists will put up a lot of obstacles, but you have to be patient.
Asif Nazrul said that the 2008 elections were highly planned and rigged elections. BNP got only 34 seats then, which is never possible.
Stating that commodity prices are not being controlled due to the syndicate left by Awami League, he said, it is not possible to break the syndicate so quickly.

This was a wrong decision and Asif Nazrul knew that by asking the political parties they would oppose a revolutionary government as he had very likely already advised them against it. There was no need to get the advice from the political parties. Asif did not want a revolutionary government as him and his clique would lose power to the student leaders and others over which he had his clique have no control.

Awami League presidium member Jahangir Kabir Nanak claimed that Awami League president Sheikh Hasina still remains as the legitimate Prime Minister of Bangladesh.
Today Thursday (October 24) around 8:30 pm, he made this claim by coming live on his verified Facebook page.
Nanak said, 'The President said, where is the resignation letter of the Prime Minister, he did not give any in writing. That means Sheikh Hasina is still the legitimate Prime Minister of Bangladesh. And Dr. Muhammad Yunus and Dr. The government formed by Asif Nazrul and his gang is an illegal, unconstitutional and usurper government.'
Nanak also called upon the Bengali nation for another united struggle like the liberation war of 1971 against this interim government.
Nanak also said, 'In the quota reform movement, armed terrorists of militant organizations including Jamaat, Hizbut Tahrir have carried out indiscriminate massacre of students. The main aim of this mastermind conspiracy was to wipe out the development and progress of this country. That has been proven in the last two and a half months.
Claiming that a false and fabricated case has been filed against Sheikh Hasina, he said, 'It will be judged one day.'
Nanak said, 'The houses of Awami League leaders were set on fire, looted and lakhs of leaders were arrested. The situation in Bangladesh is now moving towards a failed state like Pakistan and Afghanistan. Occupancy is going on everywhere now.'
He said, 'A section of teenage gangs have been brought in and coordinated. This interim government has no right to ban Chhatra League as a terrorist organization. This problem will end soon.'
It should be noted that recently Manabzamin newspaper editor Matiur Rahman Chowdhury President Md. Interviewed Sahabuddin. The President said, 'I heard that he has resigned. But I don't have any documentary evidence. I have failed despite many attempts. He may not have had time.'
Such a statement by the President was not taken well by the interim government. The students who participated in the uprising became angry about this. The movement started demanding the resignation of the President.

Yes. Im still in favor of revolutionary government and scrapping the constitution. But, BNP is the main problem here. They're acting like BAL nowadays!

They are like BAL. If they get the chance they have no problem becoming like BAL.
Somebody once told me, only thing meaningfully different bwtween BAL and BNP is later not being pro India. Otherwise, they are largely same.
