This isn't bore premature.

Seems like the probable cause was 'back flash", wherein when a shell is fired, some of the heat energy (in the form of a bright hot flash) escapes back through the breech.....it normally burns soldiers inside the turret and cooks off any ammo stored there.....such incidents are common not due to old vintage of ammo, but mainly due to improperly-made ammo casings and shell base (manufacturer fault).

But we don't know if it a Pak or Chinese ammo. Form new batches procured few years ago or the old ones now being spent for training.

No hard feelings, but if these guys are so upset about the ammunition/shells that they have to write long posts specifically to target Pakistani standards, then they should simply stop buying from Pakistan and rather go buy from India or China. If the ammunition/shell quality was really poor, then we might have seen such incidents happening in Pakistan as well during the war on terror ops on the Western border. Similar case happened during the Thailand-Cambodian war where Chinese VT-4 tank barrels were exploding, yet no body could come up with proper evidence as to the root cause.

The root cause was because they were using tanks as howitzers which it is not designed for

BD can go for 150-200 VT-4 from China to reolace all of its current old tanks. It is a good and modern tank. Cheap as well.

BD evaluated VT 4 but opted for VT5 because of it being lightweight. We have about 50 of them in service.

I was aware of the bangladesh operating VT5. But it is a light tank. VT4 i believe is the real deal.

But I guess due to bangladesh local conditions, excessive rain, monsoon etc. You may have decided vt5 makes more sense.

But if BD decided on VT5 and already have 50, why not make it 200 and just retire all these relics from 1980s.

Yes because of terrain and climate. Apart from Northern sector, not suitable for heavy tank. In monsoon it's even worse.

But Bangladesh does operate about 50 MBT2000s too, that meets the heavy tank requirement.

I think the plan is to adopt VT5 as the primary eventually, but it will be done in phases. These T59s and T69s underwent significant upgrades not too long ago. It remains to be seen if the tank is at fault or the quality of ammo. We need to wait for the official investigation report, but I doubt that will ever be made public.

Don't understand why Bangladesh went for that museum pieces of Chinese submarines... this is how rich Nations cheat poor nation. China should have actually retired those submarines but they found a BAKRA in the form of Bangladesh and sold them a junk which can actually endanger the life of Bangladeshi crew....

Im not gonna blame the ammunition here because there's simply no evidence to support this claim. However given previous such incident occurring with bdr and a worn out gun... im just going to assume this was related to that gun being too old to be in service

In blast video, I don't see that commander surviving, and no chance for loader and gunner inside too.

Not all. The tank involved in the incident is base type 59. Probably in worse conditions than service tanks as they were for training grounds.

BD has recieved two regiments (88) VT-5 so far.

The original Plan is for 3 VT-5 regiment under forcegoal2030. These aren't replacement. These armoured regiment are newly raised and didn't had tanks.

I do believe other 7 regiments will likely have MBT. But VT4A1 is not a good fit. It has performance issues. I doubt we will have money for new MBT anyway before 2030.

Barrel evacuator is at the bottom. Reminiscent of the base type 59s. On type 69s theyre at barrel tip. 125mm guns of t59s have it in the middle of the barrel
