Bangladesh: Two Soldiers Killed in Tank Firing Accident in Chattogram

Ammo failures result in much worse catastrophic explosions and sets off chain explosions of other ammo stored within the tank.

The barrel did smoke out when the gun was fired.

Something must have happened at gun level or the breach

Out of battery detonation, it’s a training issue , they didn’t check that the breech was closed so it exploded. Plenty of identical videos out of Africa and the Middle East due to the same reason. Soviets identified the problem of the breech failing to close properly on its own after several hundred rounds fired without cleaning. Bangladeshis military only has to reach out to Russia Military about this issue they’ll get the answer and the cause

“breech’

Yes because of terrain and climate. Apart from Northern sector, not suitable for heavy tank. In monsoon it's even worse.

But Bangladesh does operate about 50 MBT2000s too, that meets the heavy tank requirement.

I think the plan is to adopt VT5 as the primary eventually, but it will be done in phases. These T59s and T69s underwent significant upgrades not too long ago. It remains to be seen if the tank is at fault or the quality of ammo. We need to wait for the official investigation report, but I doubt that will ever be made public.

This notion of heavier tanks being unsuitable for BD terrain is actually questionable, have been hearing it for long without any solid argument from anywhere.

The Russia-Ukraine terrain right after winter is extremely muddy and boggy, they have been using tanks for long, even during WWII they used thousands of tanks. Besides, just because tanks are heavy it doesn't mean they can't operate on muddy soil, the track width and design can play a part. @Michael Corleone
