Bangladesh will also put barbed wire fence on the border: Home minister

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed told the Parliament that an initiative has been taken to install a barbed wire fence in the sensitive areas of the India-Myanmar border.
He gave this information during the question and answer session of the budget session of the National Parliament on Wednesday, June 17.
Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad Birvikram presided over the session.
In response to the question of Pabna-5 Member of Parliament Md. Shamchur Rahman Shimul Biswas, the Home Minister said that the government is taking a strict stand to prevent the entry of smuggling, drugs and weapons at the border.
He said that to strengthen the border security, along with the construction of barbed wire fence on the Myanmar border, there are plans to take similar measures in the vulnerable areas of the Indian border.
The Home Minister also said that Border Guard Bangladesh patrols have been increased to combat border crimes, new border outposts are being set up and modern surveillance systems have been introduced.
He said that security is being strengthened through the installation of smart surveillance systems and construction of border roads in inaccessible border areas.
