Have you been to Tokyo? I've just returned to Tokyo and I don't see the difference between subways and other rail transit options.

Tokyo has a shorter metro than Singapore or KL based on Wikipedia lol. Quite meaningless.

I have no time to measure Tokyo's subway length, some people did.

That's because they only counted Tokyo Metro, the main line that run thru Tokyo is JR East line and the Shinkansen.

There are virtually no different between JR East and Tokyo Metro, the only exception is Tokyo is encapsulated within Tokyo while JR East extended north Eastward upto Sendai and Niigata

环郊铁路， Beijing ourskirts looplines, circling around the outskirts, are not counted in Beijing's subway. Although they run only inside Beijing, but they are still considered railway lines.

That's because they only counted Tokyo Metro, the main line that run thru Tokyo is JR East line and the Shinkansen.

Better than the west but still very archaic and unimpressive compared to China. I’ve been to both. Tokyo’s rail system is very disjointed and not streamlined. Its stations are also very dated, granted they were built much earlier and are way better maintained than American public transit but it’s nowhere near the level of China. Gtfo here. Japan still uses fax machines it’s backward as ****. It’s stuck in 1998.
