Beijing’s message to the world’s tourists: come here and judge China for yourselves

Yes, but come on they are reading from the same scripts and using the same camera angles with highly choreographed trips.

Come on. not that China has no birds guy again, for decades you only have him, do you have anyone else to quote from? Maybe Gordon Chang?
For someone who dedicates his whole life doing nothing but China bashing, what credibility do you think this person could have?

Choose someone who is not a career China basher. There are tons of foreign travelers who posted a couple of videos on their experience in China on youtube, their videos are mostly about traveling around the world, only a couple of them are about China, those are real travelers, Serpentza guy's every video is about China bashing, that's his career, do you really have big trouble finding anyone else?

When is the US going to hire a whole bunch of Chinese citizens to make travel videos saying they are on the 22nd floor somewhere in the US? That would be ridiculed by the US press/netizens as showing a new level of desperation...and rightfully so...except it is done by China.

Don't waste your breath arguing with Indians — it's like mud-wrestling a pig. You both get filthy, but the pig's having a blast. The tape doesn't lie: the guy's been a certified loser for the better part of two decades, and his downward spiral's only gonna get uglier.

There are thousands of foreign vloggers' contents about traveling in China which you can choose from, so try to find someone else other than this dedicated China basher or you just can't?
When it comes to bashing propaganda, no one beats US.

The funny thing is the script and angle for the "train through a building" was actually lifted from a video made almost 10 years ago in the US

In the first half of 2026, Shanghai’s cultural and tourism market maintained solid momentum toward high-quality growth, demonstrating strong resilience.

Inbound tourism sustained robust growth, the consumption mix continued to evovle, and holiday spending provided a notable boost. Shanghai further reinforced its role as an international tourism hub and China’s primary gateway for inbound tourism.

The city’s cultural and tourism market displayed five key trends in the first half of the year.

Shanghai received a total of 5.3149 million overseas visitors, representing a 27.82% year-on-year increase.

Among them, overnight inbound visitors reached 5.0215 million, surging 31.19% year on year.

South Korea, Russia, the United States, Thailand and Malaysia were the top five source markets.

Visitor numbers from Russia jumped 132.05% year on year, while major long-haul markets in Europe and North America generally maintained growth rates above 30%. This points to an increasingly diversified mix of inbound sources.

During the same period, Shanghai welcomed a total of 890,500 visitors from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, up 25.92% year on year.

A total of 1.285 million foreign passport holders used transportation services in Shanghai, an increase of 31.8% year on year, further strengthening the city’s advantages as an international gateway hub.

By consumption categories, spending on tourism services nearly quadrupled, while tourism-, accommodation- and transportation-related consumption all accelerated. The share of service consumption increased significantly, signaling a broader shift from scale-driven expansion to quality-driven growth.

There are endless videos in youtube about China, raw videos in street, just life like is, you dont need to go to know it. But there is little interest about China life among Western people.

CNN said inviting vloggers to visit China and exposing the truth is PROPAGANDA. Telling the truth is now considered PROPAGANDA unless of course it is negative news about China.
Travel as tourist to some place tells nothing about the country.

If you travel to Cuba and Mexico tourists places you would think it's marvelous places :ROFLMAO:.

But who cares, it's not needed, internet and smartphone good quality cameras are universal and cheap for everybody in 2026, you can watch locals doing videos, you can watch expats from own country who live in China and tells how it's real life there.

Here a Spaniard, telling China is more secure than Europe. I can't know for sure, but my opinion he's telling what really he thinks, it's not a paid opinion. He lives there due to his wife's job.
