Given it is a BAE Hawk, that aircraft is a bit nose heavy.

Little more information on TWZ including second account of witnesses observing flames trailing the aircraft during takeoff. I've not seen the photos. Those could simply be the plume of the engines under a full power takeoff:

The incident occurred shortly after the Hawk departed from RAF Valley on a training mission. Two trainee pilots ejected shortly after takeoff and parachuted to safety.

Correct. The aircraft had just come out of maintenance.

That did not look like an aircraft going into afterburner mode to me.

Hawk doesn’t have afterburner. Speculation is a fuel leak due to a faulty pump that caught fire.
However they should have been notified by tower to abort
