There are no free trade agreement among BRICS countries.the only good thing coming out of BRICS is countries have agreed to use local currencies in financial transactions with each other and their trading partners but it can also be done without Brics. In terms of economic cooperation it's still a very heavy china centric.i would say nafta,RCEP, and the EU are bigger in trade volume but the potential for BRICS is endless if done right.

We would welcome "free trade" among BRICS.
India experience high trade deficit with China, higher than US-EU.
The BRICS countries would learn from india-china free trade. They won't get threatened with high quality and low price of Chinese products

So no new members added for 2024? Sheesh why not just send invitation to Indonesia, Nigeria, and Vietnam where most countries don't have a problem with. I think algeria and Uruguay (not sure about Bangladesh) have a high chance of acceptance because they are already part of the brics development bank. Pakistan will get its chance but I'm not sure how it's possible without India approval.

I think Indonesia declined the invite last year or so. Wanting to stick to NAM.

Joko Widodo is economic centric leader, he prefers OECD membership, but current President Prabowo has more geopolitics interest with anti colonials stance

there was a time when developing countries used to pay high price of oil/gas and then OPEC/Arab nations buy expansive products from Western countries. and this trend continued till last century, till rise of Chinese export......

now we find OPEC/Arab nations pay less price for Chinese imported items, as compared to Western products. and this way now oil price is also less, similar to price of Chinese products

once we discussed difference between Japanese and Chinese roads. Chinse funded roads in African nations also. and we found Chinese class roads/products is available for all those countries who want.....

if Chinese industries progress, then other countries like Indonesia-India try to catch up with China. more China goes forward, India-Indonesia and other developing countries try to cope/catch up with China industries.....

India welcomed high trade deficit with China during this century as it was estimated that by 8-10 years, mostly, Indian firms also match with those Chinese items, in terms of price and quality both.
by techniques like reverse engineering etc, which was less possible with western/Japanese products till 80s....

in sum, more China progress, it finally help emerging countries.....

Some Indian guy said here, India will not let Pakistan into BRICS, same way Pakistan will not India in OIC.

I didn't know India has veto power in BRICS, or it does not?

Don't think being a nuclear power is a criteria to get in BRICS.

It's an economic grouping and countries surviving on handouts will be a burden for all, if at all admitted

I would say, India would welcome Pakistan's induction in BRICS

along with countries like Iran-Egypt, i would say Pakistan is an obvious candidate for next BRICS expansion ......

Pakistan would certainly be said to be more than a match to countries like Egypt-Iran....

the world environment is something, if you are not in NATO then you must be with BRICS.....
here, Indonesia and Pakistan both would show firm support for BRICS.
Pakistan's efforts to join Brics is also welcomed
