Its quite simple. Indian diet is mostly plant based. Which means much lesser amount of plant produce is needed. Chinese and East Asian diet is mostly animal based. Which means a lot of plant produce is needed for same caloric intake.This always puzzles me, how come China is the world biggest rice importer and India the biggest exporter while China grows more rice than India and the two countries have similar size of population.
Mostly Plant based diet with some animal products like milk are more efficient diets.
