The length of the crossover is 4825 mm, the wheelbase is 2925 mm. It is 75 mm longer, 10 mm wider and 32 mm higher than its main competitor, the American Tesla. The main design feature of the new Zeekr is the interactive display integrated into the front part.
The vehicle has a modern 800-volt electrical system. The entry-level Zeekr 7X will have a battery that can be charged to 80% charge in 15 minutes and will provide a range of 500 km. More expensive versions will be equipped with a triple battery developed by CATL.
The power unit of the Zeekr 007, which is expected to be used in the crossover, produces 416 hp. for the initial rear-wheel drive configuration. The all-wheel drive version produces 636 hp. In China, the car will cost 240-350 thousand yuan (2.9-4.2 million rubles).

Chinese car brand Jetour will launch a new crossover, the Shanhai T1. reports carnewschina.com. The vehicle will be offered for sale with a hybrid powertrain.
It is stated that the length of the Shanhai T1 will be 4706 mm and the wheelbase will be 2810 mm. The car will receive a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with 154 hp. and electric motors. The total output of the system will be 603 hp. The crossover will also have an all-wheel drive system.
According to the publication, the car’s fuel consumption will be 1.1 liters per 100 kilometers. Maximum speed – 180 km/h.

China has temporarily halted the production of Tank SUVs due to abnormal temperatures in the country. reports cnevpost.com.
“Temperatures continue to rise this summer. Safety inspections and equipment maintenance work are planned to be carried out at Tank factories until the end of July to ensure stable operation of the equipment.”
It was noted that Tank factories in Chongqing and Hubei and Hebei provinces will stop production lines from July 23 to July 31.
Tank promised to do everything possible to minimize maintenance time and resume vehicle production as quickly as possible.

Avatr, a Chinese automaker established by Changan, Huawei, and CATL, delivered 4,682 vehicles in June, marking a 167% year-on-year increase. It is set to launch its latest model, the Avatr 07, positioned below the Avatr 11 (see specs). It will be the second SUV in its range and is expected to enter the market soon. During our recent Avatr 11 test drive, we were informed that Avatr 07 pre-sales are expected in August, and an official launch is anticipated as early as September.
Recent spy shots revealed the Avatr 07 without camouflage, showcasing its sleek and modern design. The front features slim split headlights and a slightly open blacked-out grille. The side profile includes a low body structure, large wheels, an upward-sloping waistline, hidden door handles, and electronic side mirrors.
The rear design includes long strip tail lights. The interior follows Avatr’s latest design language from the Avatr 12 (see specs), featuring a large central control screen, wraparound screens, and a futuristic cabin feel. It also includes Huawei’s advanced intelligent driving assistance system and a premium 25-speaker audio system.
The vehicle measures 4825/1980/1620 mm and has a 2940 mm wheelbase, fitting into the mid-sized SUV category. The Avatr 07 offers a range of powertrain options to suit different driving preferences. It will be available in both extended-range (EREV) and pure electric (BEV) versions. The EREV variant includes a 1.5T engine, offering a single motor with 231 kW and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive option with 362 kW combined power. The BEV version provides a single motor with 252 kW and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive variant with 440 kW total power. The extended-range version features a 39 kWh LFP battery, delivering an electric range of 188 km and a top speed of 190 km/h, while the BEV can reach up to 200 km/h.
The Avatr 07, priced between 250,000 and 350,000 yuan ($34,500 to $48,300), will compete with the Tesla Model Y. In 2024, Avatr will expand into Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Europe, opening over 90 stores. Changan will introduce Avatr to Europe, launching six new models by 2027.

Sales of the FAW Bestune Pony will begin on July 28. It is the latest Micro EV, similar to the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, to go on sale. Prices for the three versions range from 26,900 to 31,900 yuan (3700 – 4400 USD). Base models have a range of 122 km, and the more expensive versions have a range of 170 km.
The car has taken quite a long time to come to market, having first been displayed at the 2023 Shanghai Auto Show. Pre-sales of the car began on April 30. Buyers can choose between 6 exterior colors, all matched with white details, including panels and the roof. Color choices are jasmine white, bubble blue, celestial green, camellia green, peach powder, and cheese white (pearlescent white).
As with all the micro EVs, the dimensions are miniscule and the car is 3000, 1510, and 1630 mm (l/w/h), while the wheelbase is 1953 mm.
Known in Chinese as Xiaoma (小马), which translates as Pony, the car is purely a three-door. Inside, the car follows the copybook first popularized by the Wuling. Notable features are the drive selector being moved to the dashboard rather than trying to squeeze it between the two front seats, and the controls for the radio are like a gamepad. The car has a flat-bottomed steering wheel, and there is an LCD instrument screen for the driver.
Power comes from a 20 kW electric motor that can deliver up to 85 Nm of torque. The 122 km-range cars use a 9.4 kWh battery pack, while the 170 km, longer-range version uses 13.9 kWh. The car weighs 1000 and 1030 kg, respectively.
Production of the Bestune Pony began in May at the Yancheng Factory. This new plant, located in Jiangsu province, will be the manufacturing base for Bestune’s new energy vehicles. The Bestune brand is set to launch seven new energy vehicles over the next three years.

Hong Kong has become the latest battleground for Chinese EV producers. Days ago Zeekr chose the city for the launch of the global version of the Zeekr 009 MPV. In 2023 the EV share of Hong Kong’s passenger car market was over 36%, and Statista forecast this to increase to 46% by 2027; other figures show that in 2023 for private cars, that figure was already over 60%. In May, Xpeng officially went on sale in Hong Kong and has since then received orders of 500 cars; days ago, Xpeng opened Its flagship store in the city.
Back in May, both the Xpeng G6 and X9 went officially on sale in Hong Kong. Buyers receive a Greater Bay area joint warranty, a lifetime battery warranty, and lifetime free data for the car. Xpeng has since claimed 500 orders, but it is not clear whether these orders are binding or just expressions of interest.
New private car registrations in Hong Kong were 44,169 in 2023, and in May this year, they achieved an all-time monthly high of 6,435, suggesting that this year may be even better. If Xpeng really does manage to deliver 500 cars in Hong Kong this year, that would give the brand a reasonable share.
The localization of the cars for Hong Kong does not just include making them right-hand drive; the cars’ AI assistant, Xiao P, will also be able to speak Cantonese before the end of the year.
Xpeng opened its first showroom in Hong Kong on July 19 in Yoho Mix, a large shopping mall located in the New Territories. Xpeng is distributed by Sime Darby Group, with whom Xpeng signed a deal on April 9. Deliveries are expected to begin within the third quarter.

At the opening ceremony, the right-hand drive version of the Xpeng G6 (see specs) was shown for the first time. The car features an 800V high-voltage platform and can fast charge, adding a range of 300 kilometers in as little as 10 minutes.
Currently, the only other Xpeng model available in Hong Kong is the X9 (see specs). This also gets the right-hand drive treatment and comes with active rear-wheel steering, a 21.4-inch display, and an electric fridge with a heating function.
Prices for the X9 in Hong Kong have not been announced but are expected to be under HK$500,000 (64,050 USD). Prices for the G6 start at HK$299,900 (38,400 USD). Xpeng will likely add other new models, such as the forthcoming Xpeng P7+.
According to Statista, there has been a general shift to smaller, more fuel-efficient cars in Hong Kong over recent years. From 2035, registration of petrol cars, including hybrids, will no longer be allowed in Hong Kong.

Great Wall Motor’s Tank 800 is one of the slowest car projects in China. A near-production ready concept was shown at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show. Finally, the car is expected to be released later this year and we now have an additional set of spy shots of the car undergoing testing.
Thanks to some of the spy shots also featuring a Tank 700 we have a better idea of the dimensions of the new car. Compared with the Tank 700 (see specs) the Tank 800 (see specs) is considerably longer but slightly shorter in height, while the width is similar.
The Tank 800 looks somewhat like a scaled-up version of the Tank 500. There are quite distinctive front headlights which integrate the LED running lights into the actual light cluster. These flank the large vertically barred grille. Unlike the Tank 700, the new car does not have a hardcore off-road type look and is more of a luxury SUV. Both Chinese media and GWM themselves seem to be making a lot of comparisons between the new car and the Rolls Royce Cullinan. Although the sheer physical bulk of the Tank 800 may match that of the Cullinan the comparison is unlikely to go much further.
From previous interior spy shots, we can see that the Tank 800 is no Rolls Royce and, again, quite closely follows what was seen in the Tank 500. While the materials are not bad per se, they are certainly not on par with the luxury materials of a Rolls Royce. Spy shots of the interior show a two-seat and a rear bench configuration for the second row. From this we know that there is a six-seat version available and Chinese media are speculating whether the rear bench means that there is either a 5 or a 7-seater available. Most likely it means a seven-seater rather than a five-seater, given the presumed size of the Tank 800 and that all previous Tank models have only been 5-seaters.

In the front the car has a large floating infotainment screen And a smaller LCD instrument panel for the driver, almost certainly this will be combined with a head-up display. The center console has a large chunky drive selector surrounded by various controls, a wireless charging pad in front of it, and two drink holders behind it. This is very similar to the setup in the Tank 500.
The Tank 800 Is expected to debut as a PHEV. It will almost certainly use a powertrain that is the same or very similar to the Tank 700 Hi4-T. This is centered around a 3.0T V6 engine that provides peak power of 265 kW along with 560 Nm torque. In the Tank 700 Hi4-T, this is used in conjunction with a 120 kW front-mounted electric motor, which has a peak torque of 400 Nm. Combined power of the system is 385 kW, along with maximum torque of 800 Nm. The Tank 700 Hi4-T has a 37.1 kWh Battery pack from Svolt and it is highly likely that the Tank 800 will use the same pack.

Prices are likely to start at around 500,000 yuan (69,200 USD). With air suspension and double wishbone suspension both front and rear, the Tank 800 should have reasonable off-road capability.

New spy shots of the first model from Nio’s third brand, codenamed Firefly, have emerged. These are the best shots yet and also give us a quick glimpse of the interior. They come from an unlikely source: Spain. It is unclear where the pictures were taken, but Chinese media also use the shots from the Spanish website.
Although still quite heavily camouflaged, the pictures show that the first model is a compact SUV with an almost hatchback look, similar to a Zeekr X.
Previous spy shots have concentrated mainly on the back, with few showing the front. This time, we do get a clear picture of the front, and the most obvious are the round headlights. Chinese media speculate that these may still not be the final production version lights; however, they do not look like temporary units and so are likely to be at least indicative of the final version.
Nio’s third brand, currently known by the codename Firefly, will concentrate on smaller cars aimed at breaking into the European market. Previously the plan was that the car would launch simultaneously in Europe and China but recent reports indicate that it may initially launch in China before moving into Europe. At one time it was believed that the Firefly brand would be relatively cheap but the latest news indicates that it will be a boutique car, and so maintain a premium element complementing the Nio luxury brand, and the Onvo brand which is more geared towards families.
Like the Onvo brand, Firefly will not use Lidar to keep costs down. The spy shots show that the test car uses 18-inch wheels. The wheelbase has been maximized, while the overhangs, both front and rear, are kept to a minimum, maximizing internal space. The spy shots show a quite distinctive rear light setup, although curiously, they seem to be asymmetric.
It must have been a hot day when the spy shots were taken as both the front windows are fully down, and unlike many car windows today, it seems that the windows can go down most of the way. But thanks to the weather, we got our first glimpse of the Firefly’s interior. With the Onvo L60 it uses a large central infotainment screen and a head-up display, but we can see from the pictures of the Firefly that it reverts to a more traditional two-screen setup. Along with a large centrally mounted infotainment screen, there is a small LCD instrument screen. It is possible that, in addition, there is a head-up display, but given that the price point of Firefly is believed to start around 100,000 yuan (13,750 USD), this is probably unlikely.

At present no actual details are known about the powertrain. We can expect the car to be less powerful than either Onvo or Nio models, especially given the smaller size of the car. There will certainly be single-motor versions, but whether dual-motor versions will be offered as well, like with the Onvo or not, remains to be seen. We know that Firefly will have battery-swapping capability, but we also know that this capability is not compatible with Nio’s existing battery-swapping network.

The new Zeekr 009 minivan from Geely (see specs) received 2,000 orders three days after the launch, the CarFans automotive survey agency reports. It is a decent number since Zeekr sold less than 3,000 MPVs in H1 2024. The main reason for the sales growth is the lower price of the new model. The Zeekr 009 starts 12% cheaper than its predecessor.
Zeekr is a high-end brand under Geely launched in 2021. Its current model line comprises four EVs: 001, 007, 009, and X. This year, Zeekr raised 441 million USD on a New York IPO. In January-June 2024, Zeekr sold 87,870 vehicles domestically. It actively explores overseas markets, including Latin America, South-East Asia, Central Asia, The Middle East, and Europe.

The new Zeekr 009 was launched on July 19 at the AsiaWorld Expo in Hong Kong, China. Its price range for China Mainland is 439,000 – 469,000 yuan (60,350 – 64,500 USD). Thanks to the emergence of the FWD variant, its starting price dropped by 61,000 yuan (8,400 USD). Moreover, the new Zeekr 009 has some important upgrades including 30 Yamaha speakers, a LiDAR sensor, a high-voltage 800V system, dual-chamber air suspension, and up to 580 kW (777 hp).The Zeekr’s game plan worked as the demand for the new 009 MPV increased. According to the CarFans automotive survey agency, the new model obtained 2,000 orders three days after the launch. It is a significant increase compared to the sales volume of the old Zeekr 009. It sold 2,907 units in the first half of 2024.
So, the new Zeekr 009 is back in the MPV game. Previously, it was difficult for this model to compete with less expensive competitors like Xpeng X9 (see specs) and Denza D9 (see specs).

The new Zeekr 009 minivan is a large car with hefty dimensions of 5217/2024/1812 mm with a wheelbase of 3205 mm. It is available with 6 or 7 seats inside. It goes standard with an 800V high-voltage system and a 108-kWh battery pack. It is also available with a 140-kWh pack and 400V high-voltage system. On July 20, BYD announced that the cumulative sales of its BYD Song Plus new energy vehicles have exceeded 1 million units, making it the first new energy SUV in China to reach this mark.
Currently, the BYD Song Plus series has two variants: DM-i (plug-in hybrid) and pure electric, within the BYD Dynasty product line. Earlier on January 3 this year, at BYD Auto’s Xi’an factory, the 800,000th BYD Song Plus Champion Edition rolled off the production line. At the time, BYD claimed that the series had won the sales championship of plug-in hybrid SUVs for two and a half consecutive years, with an annual sales volume of 390,213 vehicles in 2023, a year-on-year decrease of 14.81%, ranking second in SUV sales.
Subsequently, BYD released more trims under the series. For example, in February this year, the Song Plus DM-i/EV Honor Edition entered the market, with prices starting from 129,800 yuan (17,800 USD). Later this month on July 25, the 2025 Song Plus DM-i is expected to officially be launched equipped with BYD’s fifth-generation DM technology.

The 2025 Song PLUS DM-i is powered by the same 18.3 kWh and 26.6 kWh Blade batteries as the current model. The WLTC pure electric range has increased to 91 km and 128 km, and the fuel consumption is reduced to 4.95L/100km and 4.98L/100km, respectively. The new car’s price tag might start at 150,000 yuan (20,600 USD) and retains the same body size of 4775/1890/1670 mm and a wheelbase of 2765 mm.

In June, 32,103 units of the BYD Song Plus DM-i were sold, a year-on-year increase of 35.3% and a month-on-month increase of 0.1%, bringing the cumulative sales to 166,221 units in the first half of 2024. At the same time, 13,458 units of the BYD Song Plus EV were sold, with a total sales volume of 58,435 units in the first half of 2024.
So far, BYD’s new energy vehicles have been sold in 88 countries and regions and more than 400 cities around the world. In addition to Thailand, BYD also has production bases in countries including Brazil, Hungary, and Uzbekistan. Most recently at the Guayaquil Auto Show in Ecuador, BYD held a Song Plus DM-i launch conference.
