Audi shows new electric cars at Auto Guangzhou
15.11.2024 - 15:41

Over the years, the motor show in Guangzhou in southern China has developed into an important venue for electric car premieres. Audi will present its upcoming EVs for China there - including the controversial show car from its new sister brand AUDI, which does without the familiar four rings.

At the SAIC stand, visitors can expect to see the recently unveiled AUDI E concept and its sister brand AUDI – the German carmaker emphasises the “in four capital letters” in the press release. It is supposed to help differentiate the well-known Audi brand and AUDI for “intelligent and connected electric vehicles.”

Audi and SAIC already presented the AUDI E concept in Shanghai a few days ago. The grand public premiere is now to take place in Guangzhou. The 4.87-metre-long electric Sportback is said to be a near-production study. The 570 kW drive power of the two electric motors and the AUDI lettering instead of the familiar Audi logo on the front will thus likely make it into series production.

The design and specifications of the electric Audi, which will be exhibited at the FAW stand, are already known. There, the German carmaker will present the Q6L e-tron as the first locally produced model based on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE). Series production is scheduled to start at the end of December and will be realised by the Audi FAW NEV Company, which was founded specifically for this purpose.

“The Audi Q6L e-tron differs from the international model made in Ingolstadt not only with its traditionally longer wheelbase, but also with numerous design features and market-specific innovations geared towards the Chinese market,” says Audi. “And the interior of the Q6L e-tron, which can be seen for the first time at the fair, impresses with a digital experience also developed especially for China. Overall, the inside of the Audi Q6L e-tron is more comprehensively tailored to the needs of Chinese customers than ever before.”

“Together with our joint venture partners, we have prepared an exceptional model lineup. In addition, we are showcasing our new premium EV brand AUDI and its first concept model: the AUDI E concept,” says Audi China President Johannes Roscheck. “This proves that our two-partner strategy is progressing as planned and is enabling us to reinforce our commitment to ‘Vorsprung durch Technik’.”

A “new brand” developed by two conservative and stubborn losers.
It was destined to be a failure.

Yeah I guess poor people can't easily identify the Audi logo so budget brand customers won't understand what an Audi is.

I believe a similar strategy is being used by Audi for Ethopia. It's working for them,
