China blocking sale of tunnel boring machines to India: Piyush Goyal to German minister

By the way, one of my jobs is to sell cutter teeth used in TBMs. The cutter teeth used in the Hanoi Metro line project in Vietnam come from our company. Cutter teeth are the core consumables of a TBM, and they are a carbide product. 90% of the cutter teeth in the world come from Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province, China. No matter which country's TBM India buys, it relies on core parts from China to maintain its operation.
Lol! You're conflating Tungsten carbide cutting teeth with the entire range of TBM cutting systems. Not every TBM uses carbide teeth as its primary cutting mechanism. Hard rock TBMs frequently use hardened alloy steel disc cutters. Also Indian companies do make TBM disc cutters, we have precision engineering companies. You are a supplier, act like one, you don't own every technology you have cheap supplier advantage. We can always look for expensive suppliers the cost will not be astronomical.

Not at the slightest. The Chinese are too smart when the Americans sanction them but they are too stupid when they sanction others. They think they are so indispensable but they are not. With each restrictions, they loss market share and countries move away for a different supplier. Chinese blocked these TBMs, we have Herrenknecht production plant coming up in Chennai. They blocked battery LFP suppliers we have battery makers now, we bought mines in Indonesia for Nickel. So please restrict more force us to do it ourselves and finally outcompete you in your own game.
Since the Chinese made a mistake and thereby pushed India to complete it on its own, you should be happy.

You should tell your government and media not to be so angry and not to lodge protests against China. Look at your government officials: they are acting like bitter, resentful women, complaining all over the world that China refuses to transfer high-tech technologies and equipment to India.

Yes. Complaints from Indians are heard everywhere.

What are foolish statements. You think China should just give whatever high tech know-how and products to you lazy Indians want, and then Chinese would be very smart eh ? Yeah, laughable, keep dream on. Since you can't get from China so now try to ridicule Chinese to see if that works, Chinese are not dumb. You dumb Indians have to do all the hard work research to gain the know-how and produce those critical manufacturing equipment the hard way as Chinese do, lol, no easy way out for you just buy from others, you won't get them.

Why you dumb a**** crying so loud that China is blocking its "cheap supply chain" to you, lol ? Get them from someone else and stop complaining about China if you people still have a sense of shame. If you Indians don't care about China restricting those "cheap supply chains" and India can readily find other alternative suppliers with ease as you put it, then why many Indians flocking to this thread to complain about China, illogical, after all, the thread is not about India but some Chinese export control policies in general. Try your hard luck on others.

The Indians are panicking right now. China is banning more and more tech goods and machinery to hostile nations like India and Indians entire manufacturing sector is based on chinese machinery.

Won't be surprised if Modi flies to China like last year to beg again

Who said they are angry. They use this as an opportunity to get more investments in. All the while keeping Chinese companies out, limiting their presence in India. Denying them growth outside all the while slowly securing space for Indian companies.

You think copying western tech is some great achievement? Watch us do the same thing lmao. Chinese are in fact too dumb to figure out they are not indispensable. Their advantages are simply less regulation and massive Subsidies by the local government.

You made a mistake.

The monopoly I am referring to does not mean monopolizing the production process of shield tunneling teeth, but rather China monopolizing the purification process and mineral sources of tungsten powder. Like rare earths, 90% of the world's tungsten powder comes from China.

It does have 10% non Chinese source selection, but it is low purity tungsten powder that cannot be used for shield tunneling machines.

Secondly, hard alloy products are different from rare earths in that they are used in every aspect of ordinary life, and all the goods you use in your life require hard alloy to manufacture molds. So 10% tungsten powder is completely insufficient to meet daily needs.

This is a more powerful weapon than rare earths, but China will not use it easily because rare earths only affect the jobs of tens of thousands of people and billions of dollars in revenue in China, while hard alloys are related to the jobs of millions of people and over billions of dollars in revenue.
