China hits back at Canada with fresh agriculture tariffs

The United States doesn't have the commodities we need, it's a country that can only provide corn soybeans and shale oil. These are commodities that are easily replaceable. We should get rid of all dollar-denominated assets, including U.S. debt, as soon as possible, and decouple Chinese industrial goods from the dollar.

We have local currency trading agreements with Russia, Saudi Arabia, Brazil and other resource countries that don't really need the dollar.

And over this years, our share of trade with the U.S. has gotten pretty low. Our total trade with the United States is only twice as much as our total trade with Malaysia. The entire US market can actually be shed.
Yes, Chinese assets in US dollars like total over $3 trillion is not safe these days. you don't know when the madman gets really edge is going to confiscated these assets. Just look at what happened to Russia's assets. Better prepared for total confrontation and possible war with US.

You know @j_hungary, something is going on, and I can't exactly point to it, and it's leaving me with a feeling as akin to having a hole in my stomach.

I have never felt like this in my life before, either.
Well, before I left the US and permanently settle in Australia, I told some of my friend, my army buddies that you guys are going to appreciate and miss George Bush very soon, it was early 2010s (sometime before I left in 2012) and back then Bush had probably the worse rating ever of any US President and everyone from the left and right are piling on his mishandling Iraq War and Afghanistan.

It's no secret why I left the US, I said it a thousand time here, to @Starlord to other member as well, left because this is what I foresee this when I look thru the second Obama administration, US is going to constantly being pull into extreme left (when Obama was in because people are sick of Bush) and then extreme right (when Trump was in the first time around because people are sick of Obama) then Biden (again, extreme Left) and then extremely right again (Trump now) and I have a very suspicious feeling after Trump, if he didn't change or suspend the constitution, we will be pull to even further left after Trump, stick around 2026 and 2028 to find out.

The issue here I have problem is, if and when this country is like being an overloaded truck carrying a double load trying to correct itself in the highway, every time it is going to be people who suffered because you are going to push the traffic aside (we being the traffic), the government will be in bicker mode and nothing will get done, and each time we will have a more draconian politician imposing something that the other side don't want and specifically make them suffer, I mean do you think the Dem will forget about this? No, when they come back in power, they are going to do what Trump did, and suppress the right as they suppress the left now, and in the end, this is going to ended up like a rubber band where each side is going to do what the other guys did to them before, and then some, until the society cannot take it, and the rubber band break apart.

This is going to be like ping pong for the next couple of decades, that's why I left, and I don't know if this is the hole in your stomach. This is certainly mine.

The guy has always been supremely egotistical. I wonder what his swan song will be, I have a hunch it will be a chaotic shriek. He is not really known to think well and he is now old enough to be senile.

This guy should be impeached and convicted as soon as possible.
They won't impeach that idiot when he was elected by a country of idiots. That's only give way for the Dem to do exactly the same thing after when we are sick and tired of Trump.

When someone said, "I don't care about something as long as X, Y, Z happen" That mean that person don't know shit about that something.

A person who think they knows stuff enough to think he is not wrong is a lot more dangerous than a person who don't know anything at all. I will just leave it at that.

This is just the precursor, Trump got cold feet and retreated from touching Chinese reserves during Covid. The ultimate weapon would be treasuries dumping, gold buying. Tarriffs are nothing. Chinese businessmen will always find loopholes, they will send <800$ from Vietnam instead. HAHAHAHAH

There were talks in the US during Covid to confiscate Chinese US bonds to make China pay for their mismanagement of the pandemic. Can't trust US anymore, Chinese gov better be prepared now.

Doubt is not attractive... but doubt is better that stupidity and confidence.

Another 50% wouldn't make any difference since US tariffs on Chinese goods are already above 70% now. The madman may as well cut off any relation with PRC. I don't think China care, they are prepared for total decoupling this time.
Yeah, Trump can go fark himself and eat a bag of dikks. China shouldn't listen to a word what that orange orang utan says.

You know Xi and celestials are panicking when they post an old video of Reagan talking about tariffs being bad.

Where are all the PDF celestials, fanboys and wumaos? They have gone absolutely silent.

I will bet Trump is more panic than Xi. We will see...

China said Monday it would not cave to pressure or threats after US President Donald Trump vowed additional 50 percent tariffs on its goods if Beijing did not retract planned countermeasures.

"We have stressed more than once that pressuring or threatening China is not a right way to engage with us. China will firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests," Liu Pengyu, spokesman for Beijing's embassy in the United States, told AFP.

Indeed, it is Orange Man who should kowtow to China, not the other way around.

Now the ball is in Trump's hand. Americans heavily rely on Chinese goods to maintain their living standard. There is no plan B to replace China. The situation won't change at least for next 4 years in the whole Trump's second term.

Even if US successfully decouples China, Americans should know the consequences. Two bad things will happen very fast. 1, US dollar will not be world currency. 2, China will launch reunification war and take over Taiwan. US can do nothing about it

The Ministry of Commerce responded to the US threat to escalate tariffs on China: China will fight to the end

China has noted that on April 7, Eastern Time, the United States threatened to further impose 50% tariffs on China. China firmly opposes this. If the US escalates its tariff measures, China will resolutely take countermeasures to safeguard its own rights and interests.

The US's imposition of so-called "reciprocal tariffs" on China is completely groundless and is a typical unilateral bullying practice. The countermeasures China has taken are aimed at safeguarding its sovereignty, security and development interests, and maintaining the normal international trade order. They are completely legitimate. The US threat to escalate tariffs on China is a mistake on top of a mistake and once again exposes the blackmailing nature of the US. China will never accept this. If the US insists on its own way, China will fight to the end.

China reiterates that there are no winners in a trade war and no way out of protectionism. Pressure and threats are not the right way to deal with China. China urges the US to immediately correct its wrong practices, cancel all unilateral tariff measures against China, stop economic and trade suppression of China, and properly resolve differences with China through equal dialogue on the basis of mutual respect.

I don't think China will back down. We have prepared for this moment since 2018, we gave them the chance for talks but they just took us for granted. I think China is prepared to decouple and launch a gold based cdbc. We will not abandon dollars 100% but I reckon majority of our trade will be in terms of CDBC. Biggest Trump mistake was to alienate all his allies. They are now more willing to maintain globalization but with Mutiple payment systems.
