The Americans just seems to be bogged down in greater mid-east for some reason which has bought the chinese alot of time. Example the 20 years the Americans wasted in Afghanistan and got anyways defeated was valuable time for the chinese and the last 4 Years the Americans wasted time on Russia and Iran which has bought the Chinese more time and took the focus off them. Russia-Ukraine war took the focus off them and then the Iran-US tit for tat war followed which put the chinese out of the Americans sight.

Promised giving economic and scientific bribes to entice India, Philippines to challenge China at borders. Instigated separatists in Taiwan and Hongkong to disturb China. Banned all things they can ban to export to China. Ordered other countries no to buy/sell things to China. Many Chinese believe the covid is a biological weapon launched by US to destroy China.

Except real war, US has done all it can do to China. You didn't realize this fact simply because China has defeated all attacks silently. Which is the root reason why Trump showed his respect to China.
