This shows how great the infrastructure is in China. Short places? Developed metros, longer ranges? 50000km+ of High speed rail. Cars are just not really needed in China because infrastructure is highly developed.

First, the L3 full autonomous driving policy will be implemented next year, and those who haven't upgraded their vehicles this year will likely wait until the policy is in place before purchasing a new car. Second, the penetration rate of new energy vehicles is already over 60%, and gasoline cars are no longer selling well; they are already in the elimination phase.
Finally, I don’t need to explain our country’s policies to you, especially since India can’t even manage environmental governance. The widespread adoption of autonomous driving is far too distant for you to consider.
You should ensure that your citizens have enough to eat before discussing private cars as a means of transportation.
I took my child on a two-month summer trip, visiting several provinces, and even in our remote rural areas, every household has a car. Private cars have become a very common mode of transportation in our country.
