It seems that there has been a
misunderstanding. This so-called "sixth-generation aircraft" is not what people think it is. What they’re working on is neither the "sixth-generation" aircraft as defined by the United States nor the internationally recognised fifth-generation aircraft. It's actually an improvement based on the J-20. If the J-20 is considered a fifth-generation fighter, then what china developing would be something like 5.5 or 5.6-an upgraded version. It's an improved model built on the foundation of the J-20, and you could call it a "fifth-generation-plus."


However, the internet has been buzzing with claims that it's a sixth-generation aircraft. In reality, we only see it as an advanced fifth-generation design, but the rumors have escalated into claims that China's sixth-generation aircraft has already made its maiden flight. How could it be that easy to develop such an aircraft? Even the U.S. hasn't officially embarked on building a sixth-generation fighter yet. It's impossible to just "blow it into existence" overnight. This is simply unrealistic

if they have 3 engines in a jet then how will the stealth feature work will it not become easier to detect the fighter jet.

And your answer to your stupid engine question all 5th gen engines having enough WET THRUST (NON-AFTERBURNING THRUST) to supercruise and conceal excess infrared signature at minimum

I am a bit tired of seeing ppl keep saying it's not a 6th gen program just because they think the size is bigger than current heavy fighter and it has three engines.

You have to understand the requirements from the PLAAF for future warfare and for China's geopolitics, it is obvious now that the sixth gen of ours is a family aircraft concept which each model just being a sub system, and for CAC model, it is designed for high altitude, high cruise speed, ultra long range to break the second island chains as we don't have as much foreign bases as Yankee and ofc the European project also don't have such requirements and with the help of PL-17 accompany with new KJ-3000, Divine eagle AEWC drone the engagement range is going to be vastly extended, hence the boundary between a fighter and a bomber is getting more and more blurred.

Naw J36 is an actual prototype. The purported NGAD is nothing but a technology demonstrator. Look at the size of J36; no one built a demonstrator at that size. So-called NGAD, we have not seen anything yet other than rendering. Show me the photo!

Lol size doesn't matter much most of J36 technology in development hence J36 is also demonstrator, but no one knows the actual specifications of NGAD

And do search WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PROTOTYPE AND DEMONSTRATOR on Google

The YF-22 prototyoe was significantly bigger than the F-22 final model.

The YF-16 was fatter than the F-16.

The YF-35 was sleeker than the F-35.

Even the Chinese J-20 and J-35 final models are significantly different than their initial prototypes, with rumors that the J-35 had to be completely redesigned from the ground up at one point.

Prototypes can come in many shapes and sizes, meaning this large fighter/bomber thing could and probably is a prototype.

Not sure why they are so devastated.
Its not like it was a competition to begin with. The competition was always between China and USA, India never in the game to begin with.

from my observation, one of the reason is because Godi medias giving out too much promises and people like DDG-80, Pingle here on this forum are the best example, just blindly accepts everything they said even they barely delivered, plus their official and generals kept saying things like su-30 mki spotted J20 in Tibet, rafael can deter threat etc, so up until recently they are all confidently telling themselves everything is fine until another generation gap finally crushed them.
