Chinese 6th Generation Aircraft News & Discussions

Looks might be H 20 this time ?
Maybe!

But I'm more likely to think it's some other airplane.
If it's the first flight of the H-20, the official news should come from PLAAF/AVIC/XAC, etc.
This news was released by Chinese Flight Test Establishment.

There is also a possibility that the H-20 has already completed its first flight before. Now it has entered the technical testing phase .............. This is too unlikely.

Test flights began at 9:00 this morning. So far, there is no valuable information on Chinese social media, much less any photos.

It seems that this is a highly classified airplane.

The power of the J-36 may also represent a跨代突破 (cross-generational breakthrough).

This is a question and a speculative assumption of mine. When modeling the internal structure of the J-36, no matter how I adjust it, there is a large space below the engine, far exceeding what is needed for the engine casing.

I marked it in Figure 1 with a purple area, and compared it with the YF-23. From the photos, it can be seen that the rear body of the J-36 is much thicker than that of the YF-23.

Moreover, based on the current photos, the three engines of the J-36 should be the same. However, the internal space suggests that the engine shape is very strange, tall but very narrow.

How to explain the purple area of the engine compartment. I think that this narrow and tall space is very suitable for arranging a TBCC (Turbo-Based Combined Cycle). It is possible that it is based on the WS-10C/15, with a parallel ramjet, sharing the same inlet and nozzle in a dual-mode propulsion system.

I marked it at the bottom of Figure 1.

This also aligns with the hypothetical high-altitude combat requirements of the J-36. The high-altitude performance of turbofan engines is very poor, so the J-36 would switch to ramjet mode for high-altitude combat巡航 (cruise), engaging targets. At this altitude, any incoming air-to-air missiles would be unable to effectively climb or maneuver.

I've seen a lot of US media discussing these two planes.

The last time the US media got excited about two planes happened in 2001.

btw: There will always be those who believe that the industrial technological development of a financial country can surpass that of an industrial country.
