Chinese 6th Generation Aircraft News & Discussions

No need to worry. Similar to the 055 and the Zumwalt, history will make the right choice.

Dear I am not worried, but I am confused. I haven't been able to fully grasp some of the concepts, and I am trying to learn them. What I said is not meant as a comment or judgment, but rather as an attempt to improve my understanding and learning.

NGAD will need to be larger than an F-22 and have a deeper magazine. The B-21 could supplement by carrying long range AAMs, but NGAD and CCAs will need to carry the load.

Problem is that the B-21 is just a B-2 with modernised avionics and more fuel efficient engines.

If the B-2 has a flight ceiling of just 50,000 feet, do not expect much more from B-21.

J-36 could fly as high as 100,000 feet to allow the greatest radar detection range and impact the maximum potential energy to its extreme long range PL-17 missiles. Not to mention that J-36 could supercruise at Mach 2.5 and so also giving immense kinetic energy to the PL-17.

The wing tips are particularly interesting given that they are not flush with the trailing edge control elements. I would have thought that would increase radar returns?

Do you have evidence to prove your viewpoint? Otherwise, keep quiet
Mach 3-4 is nonsense if you actually are an engineer and understand aerodynamic principles. The J-36 cannot be a high Mach fighter jet just by it's physical shape alone do you understand? The Chief designer himself Wang Haifeng also stated that the J-36 was not focused on hard specs like top speed. So you can keep quiet instead.

Scary what you can do with generative AI these days lol

No as it depends on cruising altitude.

Climb high enough and the atmosphere gets very thin and so you can cruise very fast without too much air resistance due to lack of air.

Ok, What if US and Chinese NGAD were based on different concept ? Which one is called which generation as both were above 5th Gen?
6th gen fighter terminology is western term, Chinese fighter jet classification is one gen behind western fighter jet GEN classification, J-20 is 4th gen fighter jet according to Chinese classification standard and J-11/J-16/J-15/J-10 are 3rd and 3.5 gen jets according to Chinese GEN classification, so in that sense J-36 and J-50 are 5th GEN jets according to Chinese GEN classification standards

Dear I know that but we are not discussing that.

all is speculations, nothing is confirmed so far, with current WS-10/WS-15 onboard on the prototype I have doubt that J-36 cruising speed is above Mach 2, thrust to weight ratio would be quite low with current engines

so what are you discussing?

Basically trying to understand the Chinese thinking behind the newly revealed Chinese goodies. Does it follow the classical path of generation systems, or is it something else? What is the actual concept and thinking process behind these?
