It does seem likely Type 004 will be conventionally powered, if only to have enough ships to build up the force to be available and reliable.

It will use conventional power like gas turbines + smaller PWR.

A1B is a huge PWR with 700 MW thermal output, whereas Fujian and Type 004 only got smaller PWR with 385 MW thermal output.

However, smaller PWR + gas turbines can exceed the performance of huge PWR like A1B.

That's untrue in the first place.

The block coefficient formula proves that Fujian's max displacement is around 100,000 tonnes.

300 x 41 x 13 x 1.025 x 0.62 = 101616

As for Kitty Hawk class:

300 x 40 x 11 x 1.025 x 0.62 = 83886

Fujian's 13 meters draft has proved that it is a supercarrier with enormous tonnage, comparable to the latest Nimitz class and Ford class.

During its first sea trial, its draft has already reached 11.4 meters, and it is far from being fully loaded to its 13 meters draft.

Kitty Hawk class weighed 20,000 tonnes less than Fujian because these carriers were much more slimmer with far smaller draft of 11 meters despite the length of the carrier is similar at 320 meters.

YHL = 一回路 = primary circuit

It is quite obviously that it is a logistic device for a nuclear powered ship, and it should be none other than Fujian.

13 = draft (d)

1.025 is the density of the saltwater

The Cb for the modern aircraft carrier is usually between 0.6 to 0.64.

The real displacement of the Fujian is no brainer if you do really understand the block coefficient of the aircraft carrier.
That's fine. Let's say it's 10,000 tons, or 11,000, nothing special.
Conventional power can still deal with it.

It is a logistic device for the nuclear powered ship that has been launched onto the water.

JN will launch the Type 041 mini SSN in next year, perhaps the nuclear container in a similar time frame, but in the period of 2023-2024, it has no nuclear ship other than Fujian.

It is obviously a logistic device for Fujian.

You have to maintain 2 completely different power systems.
I doubt it.
