Chinese PLAAF News

A total of 12 Y-9 series aircraft are parked on the apron of Hanzhong Chengdu Airport. As far as my personal judgment Determined to be 3x Y-9 transport aircraft, 5x KJ-500A early warning aircraft, 1x Y-9LG electronic warfare aircraft, 1x Y-9G electronic warfare aircraft, 1x Y-9Z electronic warfare aircraft, and 1x Y-9T communication relay aircraft. Regarding the Y-9 transport aircraft, there is a possibility that it includes an aircraft that can be modified into a special mission aircraft.

China is poised to unveil a new fighter jet at the upcoming Zhuhai Airshow, marking another milestone in Beijing’s rapidly advancing military aviation program. The 15th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition, slated for November 12-17, promises to be a showcase of the country’s latest aerospace muscle.

The latest images (December 2023) indicated that these FTC-2000Gs flew CAS missions during the recent anti-insurgency war in Northern Myanmar. One was reportedly shot down on January 16, 2024.

Considering how much the Z-10 has been adapted for the needs of hot and high altitude conditions with heavy dust and/or sand, any indication China may re-engine the Z-15 with the same engine (WZ-9C) as the Z-10ME, to create a more affordable workhorse transport helicopter (at $6-7 million)? The Z-20 is probably too expensive to be procured in large numbers (on many export markets), but countries like Iran need a helicopter to replace its Hundreds of Hueys. Egypt also has hundreds of American, British and Soviet era helicopters badly in need of replacement. Pakistan too could do with more transport helicopters at an affordable price. Apply some features from the Z-20 could give it all the modern combat transport related capabilities. This could also be a small enough helicopter to fit on the Type 054A frigates and be good for export in the naval domain as well.

Btw, the Z-10ME had the same engine thrust as the engines on the ole’ RAH-66 Comanche. It would be really something if the Chinese developed the Z-10ME into a Chinese Comanche. A scout to fly along side or ahead of standard Z-10s or Z-21s. It could be very useful in a Taiwan or India contingency for the PLA, as well as make a great export product, especially for the Pakistan Army in dealing with India’s cold start doctrine.

China already has been doing a lot of work for a stealth Z-20, why not a stealth Z-10 and stealth Z-15?

A lot of information is already out in the public domain as to how to make this possible.

The following page is very informative.

Quite a bit of ”R&D” should have been in development in the past 13 years, especially in terms of making it an economical and practical design.

Also, applying just the tech to the Z-19 could make it a really good Chinese equivalent to the MH-6 little bird, inserting 4 special forces. Helping the helicopter to find its niche. While an armed version could be the equivalent to the AH-6.

The J16 has absolute beauty, as it is equipped with both the Eagle Falcon II forward-looking infrared pod and the Eagle Falcon III day and night aiming podScreenshot_20241028_093218_Gallery.jpg
