Deals for 26 Rafale-M jets, three Scorpene submarines to be signed by next month: Navy Chief

Will the elevators of the Indian aircraft carrier be modified to accommodate the Rafale fighter jets?
Navy aircraft carriers can handle Rafale aircraft, with certain angel for lifting - It was already discussed previously

Looks like the Airforce may get more Rafales in second batch govt to govt deal
India has left with only Rafale.... Now should go for complete 110 aircrafts regardless of price.

And for 5th generation, su 57 - local production with misx of western and indigenous components

I think there will be a production line in India. The Indians can't trust Trump one bit, Russia is late and France is moving forward.

Waz
You think it's only Rafale
And no Su57 IE Mki e
version with new redesigned nozzles and new engines in say 2030

Rafale is the obvious choice, govt is playing it correctly since each G2G deal can be done with an upgraded variant !

F5 in future can’t be ruled out either !

We should seek local production of around 4-6 squadrons & be done with MRFA.

Roll out of Tejas Mk 2 is on cards later this year , focus should be on its production & AMCA development.

Why it has not been done earlier, the answer lies in the annals of Indian politics. last time, Pappu and opposition made a nasty stir with "Chowkidar Chor Hai" noise before elections, which albeit back fired massively. that was a reference of Modi helping Ambani to get a MRFA deal with France.

now, bolitically speaking, Modiji is ruling firmly and Modiji has now this option to end the MRFA fiasco with a solidly bargained deal with France. The F4 is miles ahead of the competition except for F35s which are a rarity item, not a workhorse.

hence the news could actually be true. indicates that way.

Quite possibly, think Dassault is in a much stronger negotiating position now

1) It has a decent export order backlog
2) It knows Indias options are limited
3) It knows with every passing month IAF gets weaker

I suspect production line (if HAL is involved) may take 3-4 years to set up then another 3 years to build a plane.

If IAF goes for more Rafales, my hunch is another 40 off the French line at a massive mark up.

Well played Dassault

Nobody is as good as the Frenchies when it comes to milking a desperate person.

Nobody. :ROFLMAO: (y)

True, but also the French know that they are in a good position, for political reasons, no more then ever, many countries may want to avoid taking sides in any decsion that involves China, US and Russia (I am assuming almost all over European options involve some element of US consent). France is the only place left where you can pick up a world class fighter and world class weapons with zero US content. France will never sanction you or lecture you in Human rights.

For these reasons along (as well as the very good tech on the Rafale) they can get away with charging a very high mark up. Dont like it? Then go for SU-35/F-35/J-35

See what I mean?

No? Remember they blocked our submarine from leaving their harbor when India was having it's usual randi-ronna? It took a visit by the Chinese president to France ... maybe he said something or didn't... they let us sail the sub back home right after that.

They also said they would not even consider letting us buy French avionics for the JF-17. Because of what we might do with it.

Don't know what brain-fart on our side even considered asking them.

Generally what you say, is true. But these are the wrong people to depend on.

Agreed, but that was not about human rights or poltics, that was pure greed. If we had a bigger spend then India and were putting a lot more money on the table they would have done the same to the Indians.

At one point in the 70s they were selling Jaguars , Alouttes and Alize to India and Mirages, Daphnes subs, Atlantiques to us. Credit to them.

Agree though, I would say other then China and Turkey, no one we can really trust
