Diamer Basha Dam Update | Rs. 133 Billion HM-1 Contract Signed
Diamer Basha Dam construction update: on 24 October 2026, WAPDA signed the Rs. 133.18 billion HM-1 contract for hydro-mechanical equipment and hydraulic steel structures, awarded to the Power China - IKAN Joint Venture.
The dam is being built on the River Indus, 40 km downstream of Chilas. On completion it will have a gross storage of 8.1 million acre-feet and an installed capacity of 4,500 MW.
