Drinking tea in Afghanistan turned out to be very costly for Pakistan, Khawaja Asif

Pakistan had tried to be reasonable, especially at the start, however India was a red line for us
And the Indians knew it, so they spent billions in trying to establish a network within Afghanistan of spy houses, embassies etc

The Afghan Republic rather then listen to understand our issues , purposely used India as a threat and a punishment for Pakistan and openly threw the relationship in our face

The U.S at best was a tone deaf superpower, only concerned about its own issues and we had multiple issues with them from Raymond Davis to the border incident

All in all, Pakistan couldn't allow these multiple players to create havoc for it and planned for their defeat

Pakistan hoped for the best for the Taliban, that necessity for trade and ports and food supply etc would temper their Afghanisms, but at the end of the day the Afghans will be Afghans and a source of constant fassad and deshatgardi and headaches, like they have always been

But as I say above, their is major difference from the long term strategic threat to our interests that the Afghan Republic, India, U.S and NATO held compared to the Taliban

The fallout isn't nice, but it's manageable and I'm sure the establishment have long term plans in place on how to wear down the Afghans and Baloch terrorists threat.
For a nation of 250 million, a few hundred people dying in this mindless terrorism isn't going to bring us down, but a Afghan Republic with India and U.S could cause major damage and had to be dealt with

The way I see it Pakistan took on the USSR, USA,NATO, India and the Afghan republic and came out on the other side

NO other nation can claim that

Blaming to india - you will find nothing.

You just need to look the Pakistani leaderships and their blunders from 1970s when they decided to support USA and joined the cold war and inteferrred in the internal matter of Afghanistan.

You wanted as a pet dog " Taliban" that follow you and Afghanistan supposed to be your backyard..... Years of support to Taliban even going against the USA after 9/11.

Now, even all went the way you wanted but still blame on india - surprising...

So what is Pakistan's current game in Afghanistan? Pakistan played really smart in and with Afghanistan under the Afghan war part I (initial Mujahideen+ Mullah Omar era Taliban), but it seems Pakistan fell back off the ladder of big winners from the Afghan war part II (Taliban vs NATO mostly)- Iran even came out with same or more "wins" in the war than Pakistan, as you can see from the dynamics these countries have today.

Pakistan needs to keep that relationship in perspective. Certain alliances of convenience were made at the time which don't need to define the relationship for all time. No need to seek enmity, but also no need to get deluded over supposed bonds of ethnicity, religion, or anything else.

"Drinking tea in Afghanistan turned out to be very costly for Pakistan"

So was appointing Dar as Finance Minister turned out to be quite costly.

India is a absolute red line for us, others may get confused but we have no confusion about the nature of the Indian or the Hindu

It never started in the last 1970s, it was started by the Afghans decades before, by the 70s Pakistan was attempting to manage the Afghans

And like I said Pakistan had no qualms about any trade or other relationship others may have with India, although we would once again try to enlighten about the enemy nature of the hindutva but in Afghanistan both the Afghans and Indians were taking openly anti Pakistan actions that had to be responded to

You have seek mentality of Hindu or Muslim.. we don't.

Again, what Pakistan is facing - because of the blunders made in the past

Everything is fine

The Afghan Republic was a MAJOR MAJOR strategic threat, allied with India, the U.S and NATO

It took incredible planning and ISI subterfuge to defeat multiple powers and kick them out of the region and India back to its slum after 20 years of investment, plotting and planning destroying all they had planned

The Taliban and the Afghans will always be a headache, but now they are a isolated headache, that few deal with and are reliant on a open borders and port access with Pakistan

So whilst we still have to deal with the fall out, the major strategic threat was defeated

Mark my words, Bangla, Maldives, Nepal, and then the battle will be inside India with hindutva having done it's job
Can't we just nuke the Afghans? I don't think world will care

Bhai history 1947 se shuru hoti hai, 1970 me nay

The reason we have problems and the iranians don't, is because we share a population with Afghanistan, that's soft spot people have for Afghans as kin has been used and abused for close to a 100 years now, Afghanistan has destroyed itself with its madness over the border

Okay but we can't nuke Afghanistan and be done with it? Anyway world is tired of them. It's not a Japan...

So:

When Afghans are annoying Pakistanis, its "cant we just nuke them"

But when Afghans are collaborating with Pakistani govt aka ISI, to expand Pakistan's influence and objectives in the region its "they are our brothers"?

Yeah, so what?

Everyone loves a dog that behaves well.

No one loves a dog that attacks everything it sees, those are usually put down.

Mate, so what is the outcome of this subterfuge you are so proud of? Pakistan is now facing higher levels of terrorism than before and also has economic crisis as well as political crisis. Pakistan allowed NATO to conduct operations in Afghanistan to begin with and decided to undermine it at the same time? Who thought that this was a sound foreign policy? A deal should be respected and logically concluded, this is something that Islam also teach besides common sense. Pakistan should have pushed for the Intra-Afghan Dialogue involving Afghan Taliban and other Afghan political elements to address this conflict [early on] and it could then tell NATO to leave. India does not have direct access to Afghanistan and its capacity to influence Afghanistan is limited but it is a Pakistani tradition to exaggerate Indian boogeyman to questionable ends. Now no camp trust Pakistan.

Afghanistan will not be isolated for long:

Those Taliban are very smart. They have used Pakistan to get what they want and now they are exploring new avenues to reduce dependence on Pakistan and they will.

Meanwhile the US is focused on developing relations with India, Bangladesh, and Vietnam. The US will provide valuable business and technology to these countries. Let me tell you something: the US can address Pakistan's economic crisis in a matter of days if it wants to but the US is not interested. So good job at turning Pakistan into a banana republic instead. Security forces should not be running the country because they do not understand how the world works because they are trained to fight and not to develop the country.

Everything that happened happened because it was the only choice

Just because the aftermath is tough, doesn't mean we had any alternative choices

Our long term strategic interests were at risk and we had to act, so removing the multiple threats from the Afghan Republic, India, U.S and NATO was vital

The Afghans themselves have been causing fassad for decades, that won't stop, their is no solution
At best you can do is manage them as a population
