Ethiopia civil conflict 2020 to present

There has been on/off civil war in Ethiopia going back decades. The Tigray region rebelled some years back but were beaten by Abiy Ahmed's army using UAE supplied drones. Now disparate rebel groups have united.

Ethiopia enjoys support from the UAE and Israel and has been involved in the Sudanese civil war and back in the Dubya days invaded Somalia too.

I heard tigray tribe or sect use to politically dominate Ethiopia but then there was some sort of fuss and they decided to just leave altogether.

Ethiopia has no access to sea either so they trying to get Somaliland to be their port hub and Djibouti as well.

The newly formed Alliance of Ethiopian Peoples’ Forces for Survival, Alliance for Survival, is making advances in several areas.

- In Tigray: Tigrayan forces have taken control of the federal airports in Mekelle, Axum, and Shire. Ethiopian Airlines has suspended flights to the region.

- In Afar: There are reports of forces taking control of border towns including Abala, Erebti, Berhale, Megale, and Dallol, in coordination with the local Afar group that joined the alliance.

- In Amhara: Tigrayan and Fano forces have fought federal forces, with clashes disrupting major routes, including the Dessie–Woldiya road.

Tigray calls it a “defensive war,” while Abiy’s side calls it a TPLF offensive.

The alliance aims to remove Abiy Ahmed and establish a transitional government.

The alliance is politically united, while military coordination is still developing. The federal government retains air superiority, particularly through drones. On September 18, the U.S. Ethiopia-related sanctions program expired.

A lot but through Eriteria, however if the UAE intervens as always and supplied air support to Adis Ababa then the rebellion will likely fail like the last one.

However, it's the faggot sisi's fault from the beginning, he allowed the dam to be built, we could have destroyed it before the crisis becomes that deep. Now we just dive in the mud and hope any rebllious group to take over Ethiopia. But then what? Will that secure the flow of water to Egypt? Doubt it.

Egypt should have invested more in Ethiopia, Somalia and eriteria istead of being enemies.
Imagine if we started investing there since 80s, we wouldn't have to worry about the water flow across the nile.

After Eritrea and Tigray broke off, many other states in Ethiopia also thinking of the same thing no doubt. Ethiopia i think is still most populous country in Africa
