A Labour MP issued a direct appeal to Sir Sadiq Khan to ramp up the rollout of air conditioning on the Tube as London frazzled in its hottest June day ever.

As temperatures hit 36C on Friday the Mayor of London was urged to sort out delays in new rolling stock with air con for the Piccadilly line.

Uma Kumaran, Labour MP for Stratford and Bow, put out a video clip to highlight the baking conditions on London's public transport.

"I'm on the DLR. I'm very, very grateful for the breeze because London is absolutely cooking right now," she said.

"It feels like a furnace outside.

"The train has been absolutely sweltering."

The heat wave is brutal. Almost unbearable. I never imagined Germany will become that hot. People literally fall dead if standing in the midday sun. Luckily it’s getting cooler since yesterday. Let see what’s coming.
Air con is not common in Europe.

The UK was lot lot worse because the UK is an island, so we have vey very high levels of humidity which makes the heat even more unbearable.

Demand for portable ac off the cliff. Managed to get one but too big and noisy as it is in bedroom but thing is designed for small flat/office! Only thing that was available

Try and get a proper professional wall unit installed, it is worth it in the long run as hot summers are the new norm it seems.

Spain has lots of sun, so get Solar to offset .. make the sun work for you? ( does not apply to people with flats without balconies).

Yeah, that is next step. issue is the external generator/exhaust is an eyesore so we want to get someone in to make it look smart from the outside of the house, but 100% agree. This is the new norm now.

Just get the wife to wave a large hand made fan next week for a few hours when the heatwave id back. Much quieter than the machine
