Two points:

  1. The purchase of 36 PULS MLRS along with a number of Accular,EXTRA and Predator Hawk missiles has been approved by the parliament. According to defencereview.gr the discussions concerning the LORA are still ongoing and too early to draw any conclusions. However,the article noted that our side is interested in the acquisition of the missile system.
  2. There's no confirmation that we intend to put LORA on any islands. It's just a clickbait title. We don't even have the system. Dendias made one of his vague,sensational statements and everyone went nuts with speculation. He never mentioned what systems we would put,on how many islands,when. Will they be simple artillery rockets? Ballistic missiles? Anti-ship missiles? Cruise missiles? LORA? Exocet? The future ELSA that is in development? We don't know.

Why are you guys trying to get closer to Israel? Is it because they make cheaper systems than your nato allies? You guys are better off just getting friendly with the Turks than dealing with jews.

There's some reasons I will explain:

  1. The geopolitical events,especially in Syria and the Eastern Mediterranean,have forced Greece and Cyprus to become "natural" allies against Turkey. If you think of it, it's because of Erdogan that Greece,Cyprus and Israel have come closer. Remember that until 2010 Turkey enjoyed excellent relations with Israel.
  2. Israel happens to have a very advanced defence industry and willing to sell equipment and share technology with us,when at the same time Turkey threatens both countries openly for various reasons.
  3. Some of the offers come at a good price compared to other packages from western allies. Also,the PULS is considered as a top MLRS right now. The French have just started designing their own MLRS.
  4. Some politicians and also people see it as "Turkey supports islamists and islamists support Turkey,so natural thing is to have some kind of friendship with the Israelis". That's just speculation though.
  5. Apart from France,which should have normally been a strong contender for the AA systems replacement program,I didn't read about any big interest on behalf of our government when it comes to NASAMS,Iris-T or CAMMER. Iris-T must have been of interest,but apparently the government and maybe the Armed Forces as well have reasons that are both political and military to choose the Israeli offer.
So,apart from the 36 PULS launchers,rumor has it the government is close to signing for an AA systems package which will include Spyder,Barak MX and David's Sling. On top of that,the other rumor has it that we also want LORA and that the Israelis will be offering the new version missile with 600km range to us as well.

I think I read somewhere that we also want more SPIKE systems and/or missiles. But I'm not sure. A site read that we'll also be checking out NLAW and Javelin to buy with SAFE.

There's also the American offer for the upgrade of 15 M270 MLRS to M270A2,the purchase of 15 HIMARS and maintainance of 6 M270A0.

Fair point. However Israel's policy has always been to play any and all sides. I assume everyone is aware of this. A smart country would avoid such a dishonorable relationship.

I also wonder how good of a deal those packages are. It may be cheaper and functionally the same, but who knows what their tech has built in(kill switches, tracking, etc.).

It doesn't bother the greeks that israel supplied Azerbaijan with weaponry against Armenia? Also their treatment of Christian Palestinians?

Why aren't you guys in the eastern block? Greeks are orthodox Christians, how do they feel about the fact that they have to oppose their brethren in Russia, Armenia and so on.

Israel is trying to now be a projecting force in the world, they are trialing a client state relationship with Cyprus, and by extension they are now trying to do so with Greece. I truly think they now want to openly flex their muscles and are contending to project their hard power through out the world. Maybe a sign this parasite is about to transform.

On another note, Erdogan for years trying to join the European Union all for a lowly position in the rank of the European Union, saw an opportunity about 15 years ago to really be a strong player in the Muslim world. Israel doesn't like that, they do not want stability in the middle east. Israel is looking for either chaos or hegemony over it's neighbors, and Turkey is a threat to that. They seem to be using your people's animosity against Turkey, to potentially keep them in check for their own purposes.

I have not looked too much into Turkish diplomatic relations with Greece and Cyprus, but from what I have read the since 2015, Erdogan has been trying to be more approachable to antagonistic countries like Greece, Cyprus, and Armenia. I believe reading some thing about mutual agreement related to trade and cooperation with said countries. Apart from historical and national sentiments, I don't read that Erdogan is more hateful than his CHP counterparts, or previous generations of turkish leadership. I am not sure how Turkish policy has hurt Greece in the last 10 years, I have not been following it too much, BUT

Turkey for whatever wrong it has done in the past, if any aggression takes place against Greece or Cyprus, It is now warranted. I for one have had a very indifferent view of the Orthodox Christian countries, I even opposed the recent war against Armenia, but I will now have a hard time having sympathy for Greece or Cyprus when SHTF.

"Greece" got a down vote for supporting the arms industry of that the genocidal baby killing regime ... ( as do all regimes that purchase from Israel, and that includes the UK unfortunately. ).
