US officials stated that they gave Osama bin Laden an Islamic burial at sea. What made the situation almost surreal was that people around the world refused to believe he was dead until Al-Qaeda and certain Pakistani mullahs started loudly confirming his death, swearing revenge, and holding funeral prayers in absentia. It made it feel as though everyone was in on the story.
