F-16 Officially In Ukrainian Service

The majority of Russian air attack is unguided, which mean as long as you can paint the incoming fighter, chances are they are going to miss.

F-16 now are going to be pointless because Ukraine has not enough number in service. I mean, what can 10 or 80 can do? But when they have enough number, then the Ukrainian can think of local superiority where they assign a sector and working 24/7 flying CAP mission so the ground troop can work their way out of Russian defence line. For that you need half the F-16 flying CAP and the other fly CAS.

As I mentioned earlier, unless Russia changes their aerial policy and start using their fighter to try to contest air superiority inside Ukraine, I don't expect to see a lot single between F-16 on SU or MIG.

All recent reports are suggesting that its the Russian FAB glide/guided bombs causing havoc in Ukraine. Ofcourse, the size of country and airspace, its next to impossible to conduct 24*7 caps but rather keep these jets on ADA duty and respond to emerging situation. And for that you dont need huge number of jets.

I have a feeling, PAF exploits using F16 against Indian Su30 and Mig21 are factor to push F16s in this conflict. Insistence on using F16s over other platforms, European or even other American products, is very interesting.

Absolutely nothing to do with this.

The main factors are:

1. They are widely in use and the European countries are replacing them with F-35s and so now is a good time to give them to Ukraine, as they still have thousands of hours left in them.

2. Not too high-tech and so US and Europe won't really care too much if any fall into Russian hands.

Could be, but the main thing is, apart from F16, recently, no other US/European platform scored kills against Russian hardware.

Only way to save Ukraine now is for the US to start a very aggressive recruitment program to hire poor mercenaries from failed states and pay a $1000 per day to soldiers willing to die for low pay.

Afghani Talibunny/ TTP bastards, BLA terrorists, Syrian Daesh reject losers from Idlib, recruits from Iraqi Anbar province, IS-KP suicide bomber specialists, Tajik/Uzbeki Al-Qaeda, Colombian mercs, death squads from Sierra Leone and Yemeni Al-Qaeda, Somali Al-Shabab franchise….

Put them on the payroll and lots of free captagon and suicide attack double time pay! With family benefits.

This is the only way guys……F-16 is not goin cut it.

Dude, no one cares about this as this was the best platform for the specific reasons given.

Please leave Pakistan and PAF out of this.

I am not speaking French, its a basic common sense approach, you wanna buy/get something for a specific use, you will look past history/reviews.

45 year old F-16 ain't going to make a difference. They need F-35.

Please tell me if there was no 2019 skirmish between India and Pakistan, could any other platform have been selected and why?

Most of these attack are in the North East or South East region, and most of these attack happen behind Russian line when they just drop the ordinance and glide down to attack, as for whether or not they cause havoc, that remain to be seen, but F-16 wouldn't be able to work challenging these attack because if you get that close toward the Russian line, they will have to contest with Russian SAM as well as fighter jet.

And again, unless Russian start generally breaching Ukrainian airspace, I don't expect them to have aerial engagement. I mean you need to have the Russian going over the Ukrainian line to be able to fly CAP

I am not living in ifs and buts world. I am talking about FACTS. and the fact is, that its only F16s which scored kills against Russian jets in recent history. Infact you can go a little further where TuAF F16 shotdown Russian jet over Syria/Turkey border. That is the pedigree we are talking about. If you think all this is irrelevant, then I am afraid I cant help you further.

OK, a Greek Mirage 20000-5 shotdown a Turkish F-16 back in the 1990s.

I will leave it at that as you have your narrative and that is fine and we are in danger of going off-topic.

Were you born back in 90s? Did you miss where I say "recent history"??

You dont necessarily have to shot at Russians but create a nuisance for them with hot scrambles, make them think and adapt. Right now, they have free hand, and thats what Ukrainians have been moaning about. As for the FAB, they are pretty destructive and internet/western media is filled with reports.

Umm, that's what I said, you don't have to launch and hit the Russian, you only need to paint those fighters and making them miss, you can do that with ground base SAM.

Doesn't need much analysis paralysis, pay attention to media release by Ukraine and observe what weapons those F16s are carrying. They are clear what they need these F16s for.
