The Shenyang F-6, a Chinese-built version of the Soviet MiG-19 'Farmer' fighter aircraft, was a key asset for the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) during its operational years.
The F-6 played a significant role in PAF's air defense and ground attack missions, showcasing its excellent maneuverability and initial climb rate.

The PAF procured a total of 260 F-6s, which logged 400,000 sorties (approx. 300,000 hrs) during 37 years of service.

Air Cdre Zahoor Shaikh holds the record for max hours (1765), closely followed by Air Cdre Rehmatullah with 1735 hours. The aircraft was phased out of service in 2002.

72 years ago, test pilot G.A. Sedov made the maiden flight of the Mikoyan MiG-19 (September 18, 1953).

Dubbed the “Farmer” by NATO, the MiG-19 became the first supersonic fighter developed by the Soviet Union and the world’s first mass produced supersonic aircraft.
