There is no excuse for voting for intolerance and bigotry.

Like it or not it's the mandate. French are one of the most liberal state, and for them to turn right is like Saudi turning secular. 5 years back people made fun of Le Penn as some far right nutcase. Another one Geert Wilders in Netherland, right in Germany, Italy, there is a pattern. This is not looking good.

And unfortunately one of the powerful country in EU left EU. Now when the Libs win UK, it'll have no impact on EU.

It was a long time coming. It will be interesting to see Europe in 15 years.

All this and Europe up to its neck in debt, including UK, with another useless newly elected U.K. government this week getting ready for its spending spree and a possible war looming. Perfect. I say Europe in the next 4 years going to be interesting to see the results!!

I tend to believe that all this is a willed policy from the United States.

America can longer sustain strong presence in Europe as it used to be, and at the same time compete against China.

The. Americans havent done anything to stiffle recent european right wing wave. Which makes me think its a willed policy.

Or even more frightening, the US power may simply wave waned so much that it no longer can control nationalistic trends in western Europe.

But this wont sace the French economy. Extremist muslims make of tiny portion of muslims living in France. Increasing France is loosing its control of former African colonies.

Fearmongering may win her the vote but her party dont really present any systemic solutions to the deeper lying reasons behind Frances’ stagnation.

Someone clue me in if you can please. What are the dominant and pressing issues the French are voting on ? Why is Le Penn surging, is it the migrant crisis ? There hasn't been any sort of terror attack there in a while afaik. What's Macron done to piss the people off that they're turning to the right ?

It's not the rich exploitation causing this though. The crime rates have risen sharply that's the major issue. It's not about some people stealing their jobs or something. It's the largely unchecked immigration that's causing this. If you remember correctly the far rights actually warned about illegals committing crimes and campaigned against this, but then they were branded racist but then they were proven right.

The French in fact tried to suppress this rise by agreeing to those far right policies. Remember when french received widespread condemnation for their anti Islamic policies, especially Macron tried to soften the blow with it. Now the cat is out of the bag. Hopefully Macron retains his post or the nutjob Penn is coming to power. France and Germany are the one's holding EU from going to the extreme right. If Europe goes that route it's over.

Macrons right shift was tactical much like the Temple run of RaGa. But voters thought, if we want right, why do we need a fake right.
The low level crimes that doesn't make news were still happening and French social media was lapping up this sentiments of anti immigration, so any immigrant arrested even for some petty crimes, they get magnified.
