Sir the Establishment has not performed ever in this country. For those who are not old, we just had Mr Musharraf's utterly disastrous tenure. The present head of the Establishment already has a bad record after just 4 years, so why would it be different this time ?
They also refuse to step aside, not only because they are shameless and treacherous, but because they fear the Law and the consequences of their actions. Only Pakistan and it's people are the losers.
Please enlighten us how Imran Khan would have handled US demands differently during peak of WOT when entire world complied? And no, absolutely not would have not worked back then because it would have dire consequences.
Btw, Iran did initially supported US in WOT as well.
Yes, Iran provided notable indirect and direct support to the United States and its coalition partners at the start of the war in Afghanistan in late 2001.
Because the ruling Taliban in Afghanistan were bitter ideological enemies of Iran—nearly going to war with them in 1998 after the Taliban killed Iranian diplomats in Mazar-i-Sharif—Tehran shared a common adversary with the U.S. in toppling the Taliban regime.
Key Forms of Support Provided by Iran
• Northern Alliance Coordination: Iran had long been a primary financial, military, and logistical backer of the anti-Taliban Northern Alliance. Following the September 11 attacks, Iranian intelligence and military networks (including the Quds Force) helped facilitate cooperation and coordinate ground operations between Northern Alliance commanders and U.S. Special Operations Forces.
• Search-and-Rescue Agreements: Iran quietly agreed to permit safe passage for humanitarian aid and promised to conduct search-and-rescue operations if any American pilots were shot down or forced to land inside Iranian territory.
• Diplomatic Cooperation at Bonn: Iranian diplomats—including future Foreign Minister Javad Zarif—worked closely with U.S. envoy James Dobbins at the 2001 UN-sponsored Bonn Conference in Germany to help broker the political transition, pressure stubborn factions to compromise, and establish a post-Taliban interim government under Hamid Karzai.
• Border Control and Al-Qaeda Transit: Iranian security forces blocked and monitored border infiltration routes to prevent fleeing al-Qaeda fighters from easily escaping into Iran (though some lower-level operatives later slipped across or found temporary shelter, leading to later U.S. accusations).
