The France and Argentina games today should be interesting. But I am not interested in either team once again winning the Cup. I would have rooted for the Netherlands and their team is a contender this year, I just don't like the Dutch's reputation for on-field bullying and physical play.

Obviously I'm rooting for team USA but I'm a realist I know it's not happening so the team I want to win it all is England or Mexico.... if US can't win it of course.

After years of not watching soccer I'm now back in after watching NZ vs Iran. It pulled me back in after watching and hearing the crowd and the passion I got reminded what I'm missing. This also means Premier League is back on my schedule after WC.... Never walk alone guys!

Following Iran's first match on US soil last night, there was a new incident involving part of the team, who were detained for questioning at Los Angeles airport. The United States told that it will not allow the Iranian national team to "abuse the visa system to infiltrate terrorists into the US under false pretenses."

Great question! Morocco. They are genuinely good enough to take on any team toe to toe. And they are absolutely mental about football.

Oddly enough, Lamine Yamal of Spain, arguably the best young player in the world today, could have played for Morocco had he so chosen. That would have turned this current generation of Moroccans into genuinely serious contenders for the World Cup. This is their best generation ever but I suspect it will still probably fall short.

France's attacking line is genuinely terrifying. It's technically elite, incredibly mobile, and dominates in 1v1 situations. When you have a forward unit that strong, you can just sit deep, absorb the pressure, and wait for the counter-attack. For knockout games, that setup is pure efficiency.

Great World Cup so far, packed stadiums, electric games. It seems the world is having a wonderful time in America.

This is their best generation ever but I suspect it will still probably fall short.

The good thing about Algeria Morocco and Tunisia that they have large diaspora in france and french speaking countries that helps them to get many good players already playing in these leagues unlike Egypt which doesn't really have much diaspora and most of their players playing in europe are from the Egyptian league ( like salah , marmoush , hamzah etc)
