FIFA World Cup 2026

Now as I understand it, the 2 drinks breaks (extra time outs specifically for this world cup that don't exist in standard rules) will still be applicable, even when climatic conditions are moderate.

Many are screaming foul play about these time outs because they are being misused (I.e. as tactical time outs to halt the momentum of a team in the ascendancy and simultaneously giving a team on the back foot a chance to reorganise).
Appears to be the case. "Level" playing field regardless where the match is being played.

The games in Atlanta and Houston enjoy air conditioned stadiums.

So far, SUI-BIH has been somewhat boring leading up to the half.

Not surprised the representation of the BIH team in the crowd.

And there you go! Bosnia built up momentum just before the drinks break. The break stalled that momentum and gave Switzerland a breather. Next thing you know, Switzerland score!

It's not like cricket where every ball gives a consistent break in play ("dead ball") to allow individual recovery.

Well, no excuses now. The Swiss are too strong. Great result for them against a stubborn opponent.

Red card and being a player down on the BIH side probably didn't help either.

Remarkable game where everything happened in the last 20 odd minutes!

Canada should beat Qatar to put them on a very strong 4 pts too (still not guaranteed qualification but then would be very likely).

What concerns me is my learning more about this game than I had cared.

I do like the fact that most of the tournament hosts, analysts, and match narrators are European. I just don't see Joe Buck or Troy Aikman calling a match like these.

Well i learned from you that "shut out" means to keep a clean sheet in American commentary. Is the phrase from ice hockey perhaps??
